So im playing Grandia and wondered if there are any tie ins to grandia 1

Beyond fighting/magic system, and simularites in story type? Not a thing. Its simular to how none of the FF series before FF X-2 have anything in common. Atleast between Grandia 1 and Grandia 2. Dont know anything about X-treme or anything else released.

Grandia 1 = boring story
Grandia 2 = cool story - and funny characters!
Played G2 and loved it. But when I played G1 I was totally bored.
So is it a stand alone or does it make references to the first ?
As far as I can remember there are no supstantial references. Only some of the items are the same if my memory is correct.

From what I've heard there should be some references and it actually takes place before the first game. I've only played Grandia 2 and Xtreme though.
