what is laser rot?

...is a condition common to some early laserdiscs where the inner adhesive layer starts to get brittle and break down over time. It causes the video to have severe static and snow when the disc is played. Nobody really knows how to prevent it or even predict it. How the discs are stored may be part of preventing it, but collectors disagree about whether or not rotating the discs vertically has any impact. I have a bunch of copies of Thayer's Quest for the Halcyon and none of them have laser rot. On the other hand, I know some collectors whose copies all have rot. Same processing plant, same adhesive but for some reason some discs just don't have the issue.

You know its the last game I need to complete the set of games for this system. LOL
I just hope I can find one in playable condition.

Halcyon games consist of both a laserdisc and a plug-in cartridge. I only know a couple other collectors who have complete copies of both games.

Although there are only two released games, so it's not like you need to track down a whole lot of carts. Still, there were significantly more laserdiscs pressed than carts which were assembled because of the way RDI had to order things.
