Apprently, Jim Merrick of NOE has been spilling the beans (albeit only a few) on the Revolution. Here is what he had to say:

- The Revolution will launch worldwide within fourteen weeks. I'm liking the sound of that. Though, you could argue, Microsoft aims to go one better this Christmas...

- Multiplayer will be a similiar experience to that of the Nintendo DS... you'll be able to use the USB Wi-Fi dongle (available in November) and that in a lot of circumstances, only one copy of the game will be needed.

- In addition to being able to download old games, we'll also be able to access region copies of these games. Super Mario World in Japanese, anyone?

- N64 games, played on the Revolution, will enjoy a better framerate (although they won't show any signs of graphical improvement).

- No Revolution games will be shown this year - something we've all resigned ourselves to, I guess.

- And, take this with a pinch of salt, there won't be any significant differences in the graphics of the Revolution in comparison to the other systems. We'll see, eh?

Anyway. I like the sound of most of the above.

I hope they at least convert the 240 scanline resolution to 480 resolution - even with limited textures Zelda Ocarina looks much, much better in hi-res!

I am real curious to see what launch titles they release, and of course, more importantly, the quality of the graphics... thats key in my book.

Ok. That cleared up some of the bad wording the originally poster used. Reading the original post, I was under the impression that the Revolution was going to launch within 14 weeks, not that there would only be a 14 week window between the Japanese launch and the rest of the world.

The rest of the news isn't much news at all.

Sorry to have confused you, but I didn't have the Gamasutra link to work from when posting before.

And yes, the rest of the news is much news. It is important news for anyone even semi interested.

True, but I doubt Microsoft are going to heavily target Japan much considering the Xbox currently is lucky to sell in three figures each week ;)

Actually to be honest, I know they are going to be trying much harder to break the Japanese market. From what I hear, Xbox360 prices there could be very discounted to "encourage" sales this time around.

Are you kidding?

Microsoft are trying harder than ever to crack Japan with the Xbox 360. The Japanese are getting the lowest price, just the one model (the rest of the world has two to choose from) and Microsoft will be flooding them with consoles. Not to mention how many RPGs have been annouced for the 360...

14 weeks, hmm, thats about 4 months.
I hope Nintendo treat Europe a lot better than they usually do.
