My question is, is Sony focusing on everything *BUT* games for the PSP?
That said, I'd take a PSP over an Ipod in a heartbeat.
Still, even with 10 million PSPs sold supposedly, I think they need to raise the bar on games production, and work on lowering the price to $199 or so. I know it will be pretty hard given the price of the components, especially that screen.
Sony looks like it's going to be a real tough nut to crack for Apple, in terms of mobile multimedia. Wonder what will be selling for Xmas 06, Ipod Video, or PSP?

Before the PSP was released, I said to myself that i would never buy one. But all the recent talk of Emulation on it sounds friggin cool, I would take PSP over anything Apple anytime of any year

300 dollars for 1GB of storage and a big screen or
300 dollars for 30GB of storage, a smaller screen, and TV out capabilities
the problem with convergence is that the value-add features are either a)not very practical, or b)come at the expense of the units main feature.
the PSP has the word playstation in it. it is supposed to be a game machine first and foremost. so far it has not, and until it establishes itself as a game machine, it will continue to flounder.

Why I would take a PSP isntead of the iPod. Ipod is designed for music in the first place, much smaller and has much more storage space. I really don't get what SOny is doing with the PSP. I just see loads of stupid movies being released which I won't buy anyway. The only game I would like to play is Lumines. I am happy to own a iPod and DS and as long as Sony try to keep making playstation a multimediacenter I didn't ask for I won't buy one.
For emulation I will go for the new version of the GP32. I prefer this for emulation as it's complete open source so you won't have all the crap with new firmware.

Note that all new versions of the iPod are shipping with an integrated screen for video. Really and truly. They aren't making non-video iPods anymore, and their video line has been collapsed into the iPod line.

Technologies merge. First we had calculators. Then graphing calculators. Then calculators/e-pads. Now the calculator is all but dead - replaced with a mini-computer called Palm.
The same thing's happening in portables. We used to have games or TV or music. Separate. But over time these technologies are merging into a single entertainment portable.
That's life.
Course i still don't need/want portable music, tv, games so I won't buy any of those, Ipod or PSP. LOL
