I know that there are discoloration issues when it comes to playing vertical games on a TV. What about if you play on a PC monitor? Will you still have the same issues or not because that is what I am thinking of doing if there are no problems playing them on PC monitors.

Just let the tv sit for a little while and the discoloration issues tend to go away.

the ol' degauss button helps on monitors just dandy, IIRC.

A lot of current PC monitors automatically degauss when you power them up, so you just need to make sure that you only rotate it while it's powered off. Then you can turn it on again once it's in place. I've had no trouble running even an iMac on its side with this approach. Most of the actual danger comes from the structural integrity of the monitor. If it's not built in such a way that it can support its weight properly while rotated, you might end up with a broken tube. Granted, I've never actually seen this happen, but it's something to keep in mind.

But if you're using an LCD, obviously none of this matters. ;-)

Yea, but those are normally 5:4 or 16:10 or some other icky, nasty, ugly, distorted aspect ratio :(

I mean, at native res they're nice as can be, but for shmuppin' goodness, they're a visual trainwreck waiting to happen.

leave your tv or monitor off for 10 or so minutes (standby doesnt count for alot of tv's, have it right off) then have it sideways while it's turned back on, and you should be fine

i wouldnt worry about breaking the tube, theres not really anything supporting the board on the back of it anyway, so it doesnt matter which way you have it, so long as you dont drop it or anything. i used my commodore monitor sideways for a while

So on ANY TV or Monitor, just leave it off for 10 or so minutes before turning it sideways then turn in on after a while and it should be fine.
