I called him while he is on vacation to let him know. LOL
I believe he only needs 2 more Genesis games.

I still need 2 Genesis games. This one is a contest one, and less than 5 exist, so I don't believe it counts towards a complete collection.

Dude, no offense, but why are you only offering UPS shipping? That will make the final price way too high, and well, not many people will want to bid because of that.

First met the reserve, then you will know if the shipping is high. That cart is much much rarer than a NWC!

Sending a game like this without insurance is crazy. So it MUST be sent like this. Cant be sent with USPS and some cheap delivery confirmation, I would never take that chance.

For stuff like this, I agree, you NEED the delivery tracking and insurance just in case...

It's OVERNIGHT Shipping with insurance and delivery. A game worth this much is not getting some silly little confirmation sticker. Would YOU want your gold NWC delivered with Priority Mail and delivery confirmation??? That is why the shipping is high. It's also a fraction of the total cost of what the cart is worth...

I'm not against you using UPS, I'm just saying you should've offered a cheaper shipping method through UPS. Unless Overnight offers some special insurance option, I think it's just excessive. *shrugs*

I wouldn't mind a NWC being sent to me with Priority Mail and delivery confirmation... AND insurance. You CAN purchase insurance at the post office you know. Oh and I wouldn't need overnight shipping, I'm not that impatient that I couldn't wait the 2-3 days that Priority Mail takes. Overnight shipping just adds too much to the final cost of shipping.

suppafly: very well said.
Griking and Kitsune, this is NOT even my game. I'm selling it for someone, so let me make that PERFECTLY clear. Also, the reserve on this game is pretty high (NWC range) so there is no way in hell the seller is going to be responsible for sending out an item with the value this high, and not send it with the appropriate shipping and insurance. If neither of you ARE going to bid, then why complain? It's NOT going to "turn off" tons of bidders, only 10 people in the collecting community will probably have the money to afford something like this that ARE interested in it. THESE ARE NOT MY AUCTION TERMS. They are the seller of the cart's terms.
Griking: Do you like to complain about everything? I see you try to make valid points about ANYTHING, and you get completely shut down, just like on a previous thread you tried to say something about "dumping" games and knowing about values. If you know nothing of this cart, and do not plan on buying it, and know nothing about protos and unreleased games, please stay out of ANY of my threads. You are basically wasting time and just whining about things that do not concern you.

Actually, considering the amount of money this item will likely go for, I doubt USPS insurance could (not would - could) even cover half of the possible final cost. I still see no reason for sending the item via Overnight shipping - but as DreamTR said, it's not his terms.
I'm surprised by the replies I got. Or rather... I'm not. It was not my intention to "whine", as I would never bid on such an item. I was just making a comment on the shipping costs. But whatever.

I'll be the first to admit that I know absolutely shit about prototype carts and I really don't remember ever saying that I did. What I DO remember though is making a post saying how lame I felt it was that you were trying to steal that Bio Force Ape proto from that guy and wouldn't take no for an answer. This of course was before it was proved to be a fake. But hey, you wanted to bring up past topics, not me.
As far as this auction goes, all I'm saying is that the shipping charge is high. You don't need to know anything about protos to see that. You're obviously offended by me saying this but that's besides the point. The cost to send a one pound package via Priority Mail is $3.85. You can purchase up to $5000 of insurance through the post office (is that enough) for an additional $11.20. This comes out to $15.05, roughly half what you're charging.
Here's (http://www.usps.com/send/waystosendmail/extraservices/optionalserviceandfeaturefees.htm#insuredMail) a link to where I got these figures from the Post Office's website.
Insurance Coverage Desired
Fee in Addition to Postage
$0.01 to $50.00
$1.30 50.01 to 100.00
2.20 100.01 to 200.00
3.20 200.01 to 300.00
4.20 300.01 to 400.00
5.20 400.01 to 500.00
6.20 500.01 to 600.00
7.20 600.01 to 700.00
8.20 700.01 to 800.00
9.20 800.01 to 900.00
10.20 900.01 to 1,000.00
11.20 1,000.01 to 5,000.00
$11.20 plus $1.00 for each $100 or fraction thereof over $1,000 in desired coverage
Now does a person who's willing to spend a few thousand dollars on a videogame really care if he's getting screwed for a measly $15.00 in shipping? Who knows, I guess its up to the individual. I know that would though.

Yeah... that'd be the thing. Do you know how often the Post Office screws up on sending items? I wouldn't trust them to send something of such rarity and value. Sure you can put 5,000 on it in insurance, but if it is lost? what do you do... less then 5 exist? I'd be fuckin mad.
and i wouldn't mind paying the $15 for SECURE tracking, something the post office DOES not include.

Fuck priority mail, I planned on bidding on this, but I will only bid if Jason will ship in a .25 cents bubble mailer & ship it media mail. Shouldn't be any more than $2 total. He can use First class or media whichever works better for him, but the hell with expedited shipping services.
Seriously I think the less time it is in the postal system the better. There's less chance for anything to go wrong.
Priority mail doesn't offer tracking, they offer a confirmation should it arrive at the destination, but honest tracking they do not.
I wouldn't even want it going through the post office. I would request UPS or DHL with an expedited shipping rate & of course fully insured.
And I don't think screwed is the correct word above, when the cost for USPS Express mail with $1500 insurance is over $30 already, it's hardly getting screwed. The buyer is paying for a service the post office is providing, or UPS, or DHL, or FedEx, or whomever the seller ships with. The buyer is paying for a service. If the buyer was paying $30 for Jason to ship priority w/DC and Jason was pocketing $15, then maybe you'd have a point.
And Griking, weren't you the seller who pockets insurance money and don't add it when you pay for postage? I believe you were the member here who said that. It was either you or lost monkey, but I can't get the search engine to work for me right now.

So does UPS and Fedex. My company has a UPS ship center in it so I know this from first hand experience. Charge the winning bidder $500 for shipping and have it personally delivered by a courier and a body guard for all I care. You all obviously have money to burn.

I'm not bitter at all. Truth be told, if I had a few thousand dollars burning a hole in my pocket I'd probably build a new porch for my home rather than spend it on a single videogame but that's just me.
My issue from the get go was about spending $30 to ship something overnight when that can be delivered second day for half the price. THATS where the money to burn comment came from, not the value of the item itself.
The funny thing is that I see others here go absolutely bullshit about excessive shipping charges on eBay all of the time. I guess that's all fine unless its another member's auction that we're talking about, then of course it's completely justified. Again, whatever.

Sure, when I'm being charged $8 to ship a tiny cartridge that I paid 99 cents for, then I'll surely go bullshit. However, when I'm paying $30 to have an investment of hundreds or thousands of dollars protected, tracked, and in my hands almost immediately, then I'll just think it's absolutely worth it. The main thing here, is that the shipping charge, is basically peace of mind for both buyer and seller, if i were bidding on it i'd gladly pay the shipping, knowing how much the item will go for $30 is a snip!
Griking if you have a problem with shipping thats cool, but why go on! i see stuff like this every day, the last thing i do is post about it.
I can also see what your saying (Shipping over night Vs. 2nd day) but "maybe" you don't appreciate the video game collectors mentality? bascially this item is highly sort after, and the value of it, also corners a niche group of collectors (a small group at that!)
To this Group the shipping doesn't even get a second thought (they don't have money to burn, it's just being safe!), i can see this thread will be locked soon enuff, so Griking maybe it's worth taking in what some of the more long term members have said? ;)

Yes now that we have all agreed to leave the shipping issue buried the true issue is at hand and can be dealt with.
How dare you compare an item of Sega to that of the holy grail Nintendo NWC. Even the best player on a grade school team can not play pro ball. Gather if you will 5 of these and then you may have what is as desired as a grey NWC.

I'm getting a weird error now. Page three says there's no posts to show?
Anyway, I think the guy was mostly making fun of those of us who complained. :P So yeah.

OK it is official this is a damn joke. I am glad I dont want this cart all that bad. I was willing to go 700-800 but 1275!!!!! People have gone stupid.
DreamTR are you the seller? Did you post it with a insane reserve so it wouldnt sell? Just to show the cart off? People have done stuff like that on Ebay before.

I can't believe someone is complaining about 30 dollars shipping charge. I get pissed when people over charge on shipping but $30 for overnight seems about right to me. Plus whats 30 more dollars when spening 1300 :/
"Oh look honey the home of are dreams and it is only 759,999"
"Screw that it is 1,000 over priced. No way in hell and I buying that much"

I think that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, specially for collectionables and non-commercially available games....so its up to one to name a price depending how much this game is wanted.
I wouldnt ever pay over 350 for this game, but THATS JUST ME.
Thanks!

Yes people bidding 1275 on a game are stupid but people bidding 700 to 800 dollar on a game is normal! Please LOL .
This is a unique game, a must-have for collectors!

this is NOT even my game. I'm selling it for someone, so let me make that PERFECTLY clear. Also, the reserve on this game is pretty high (NWC range)

Tynstar: As it says above, it is not my game. 700-800 is on the low end I would say. I am willing to pay more myself for the cart, but nothing above NWC prices.....
On an off topic, I finally completed Genesis. Now I'm working on 5200, 7800, and GB/GBC boxed, and the last few are a PAIN.

well it ended at $2,200 @_@
Are you going to sell it to the high bidder for that price?
DreamTR
11-11-2005, 02:38 PM
Yeah, but that's not the reserve. I would pay $2200 for it.

Reserve was $3000.
Tynstar, I got it from a friend of mine locally. It was the last game I needed, and I gave it to him for free ages ago, but how ironic was it that I needed it in order to be the LAST game.
Not all are complete, probably around 50 need boxes, If I get them ever, good ..if not, oh well....and Outback Joey I only have loose for good I would say ;) I do have Miracle complete, though.

Wow 3,000....Maybe you can convince your friend to sell it to you for 2,200. You already said youçd be willing to pay that much for the game!
How does anyone with a wife convince her that it's a good idea to pay $2200 for a video game? Promise her a trip to Tahiti?

So, is your friend going to sell the game for $2200? I think he should, $3000 is INSANE and I can't see anyone paying that. $2200 may be the best offer.

WOW!!!
I know that this game is worth quite a bit, but $2,000+?????
What is the most this game has ever sold for before this auction? It looks like the DP guide needs some updating, because the last time I checked it had this game listed as $100. @_@

He's NUTS if he thinks he can get more then $2200. Totally NUTS. :)

Really? And what would you have said if it had been originally put up for a BIN of $2000?
I would imagine exactly the same. There's at least 3 people out there willing to pay $2200, it would appear. $2500 is only around about 10% more. Sure it's crazy - but not really that much crazier than $2200 ...

I guess it's time for me to chime in here.
1) if you're looking at rarity, 2000+ is not nuts. this is only the 3rd one of these i've ever seen. Port beat me to the BIN on the last one on ebay like 2 years ago by a min or 2, and got his for a steal of $50, that's the last reported sale I've seen of one of these. NWC's come up a few times a year. In fact I've seen more Gold NWC's then i have of these.
2) Admittly Genesis things don't seem to have quite as much following as Nintendo things, so yes I can see why this wouldn't command the same value as a NWC, but when a Grey NWC is bringing 3 k+, why not when something is 30x rarer and the grail of genesis would it not bring 2k+ ?
3)there's been so few of these available that "who the hell know's what it's worth?" With a game like this it's all about the timing of the sale. This game is like the NWC of genesis, who's to say a true gensis fan with the cash to spare wouldn't have paid 8k for this like one Nintendo fan did for an NWC Gold?. With carts like this it's all about who knows it's for sale and the timing of that sale. It only take one person who wants it bad enough to pay whatever it takes to get it.
4) in defense of the seller for the high reserve. Whoever the seller is...a reserve is just that ... a reserve. 3k is what it would take for the seller to let it go. The seller probably likes having the cart in his or her collection, but for the right price would have sold it. In this case 3k. So who cares how high the reserve was?
