I know that the gold TRU N64 consoles came with gold controllers, but has anyone ever heard of special edition gold N64 controller that was sold or given out to commemorate the 100th issue of Nintendo Power? Anyone have one or have pics of one? Thanks.

I'm sure there was an N64 pack in the UK with a gold controller and Goldeneye 007 game.

Was the gold one offered by NP the same one as the TRU pack-in? My memory might be bad but for some reason I remember the price being much higher on gold pad than the other colors through NP.

On a related topic, has anyone seen the banana controllers that were some sort of DK64 promotion? If so, how did one go about obtaining one of these?
Other than these two, were there any other special controllers for the N64? And Atomic Purple doesn't count ;)

NP had a package thing right before DK64 released. 12 issues, DK64 guide, and this controller. Don't remember that price on the package, but it was more than $30 USD :P

The 100th issue edition just includes a simple sticker in the middle of the controller that says something like "NP 100" or something.
Nintendo also gave out gold controllers at the 1998 E3. They had four sit-down arwings set up and players would play StarFox against each other. Whoever won out of the group of 4 walked away with a gold controller. Those had a simple gold 3D "N" sticker in the middle.

all it was, was a sticker? hmm interesting, but if I recall the price was $56 USD ($70 CDN) for the controller. I might be wrong, so if anyone remembers differently say so :)

Aha! I have that one and I have always wondered where exactly it came from. Now I know. Did it come in a box at all, or was it just packed like that?

Nope, no box. I think the first issue, the guide, and the controller came at the same time, all in one regular brown box. Or maybe it was the controller only. I can't really remember LOL
Edit: the only other 2 N64 controllers that I know of, that may be special, are the extreme green (neon green) controller (TRU exclusive?) and the black and silver NP millenium controller, given away in a contest (2000 of them... look in one of the later 1999 issues and you may find the advert for it :))
Does anyone happen to know anything about this N64 controller?

That's a Korean Hyundai controller. Hyundai distributed all Nintendo's consoles in Korea, in the same way that Samsung released all the Sega systems over there.
'ComBoy' is the generic name used for all Nintendo systems in Korea.

The ones my friends and I got at E3 had stickers. The controller was gold plastic and the sticker was a gold foil add-on, in the design of the N64 "N".
I know this for sure because a couple of the guys were horsing around in the waiting line and scuffed the controller on the carpet. The sticker partially peeled off and we spent the rest of the time getting it back in place so it wouldn't look crappy.
The gold controller from Nintendo for the NP100 was a black sticker with gold foil overlay. It's a sticker too because when it arrived, the sticker was crooked so I straightened it.

It is funny this thread was started since I just came across my original box lost in the attic. So, just for reference sake, here is a photo. http://imagehost.vendio.com/preview/ma/masco/n64gold.jpg
Sorry, I have a new camera and I still haven't been able to resize photos yet.
Anyway, the sticker is applied to the box and takes up almost a 25% of the front. I am pissed because it seems to be actiplaquing on the sticker.
As for the goldeneye pack in, it might have been UK only since I bought the N64 with goldeneye separately.

Just found my NP100 controller. It's a standard controller with the as-cast indented "Nintendo" logo. Just above the name, there is a black and gold horizontal sticker. It's black with gold foil lettering...
Nintendo 100
Power
As soon as I get a chance, I'll take a photo and post it. And I'm waiting on my friend to send me a photo of his E3 controller as well.

Ah...Toys R Us always has the coolest exclusives.
This year, we have a Toys R Us Exclusive SpongeBob SquarePants GBA SP.
We had two exclusive original GBA colors, one I think was called midnight blue (it was a dark shade of blue at least) and the jet black.
Target had red GBAs, those bastards
Last year we had these hideous lime green/orange SPs. So I guess not all our exclusives are cool. Definitely not as cool as the tattoo SP that I think was exclusive to GameStop (i THINK). Of course, exclusive or not, you can get everything on eBay LOL.
