Where exactly is the good? None of those look overly impressive to me.

FYI BBC did a report on some other 360 prototypes a week ago, they were just as ugly.

Fwiw, I don't like the looks of the 360 *OR* the PS3. I think it would have been a lot cooler to make it like one of those shuttle PC boxes. Especially if they used that cool brushed aluminum style, white plastic is just ick.

Oh, and another thing for me to complain about : why are they both going with the 2.5" laptop hard drive size? Yeah, sure I want to use a technology that's 60% slower, and costs 3x as much per megabyte. And worse, they jack the price up to astronomical levels. $99 for freaking 20 gigs? Jesus Frau-popping Christ, I can buy a 300gb Sata drive for about the same price.

I am not sure what you are talking about. Those all look pretty much like the 360 that I saw on demo in a store yesterday. I guess I don't have a fine eye for detail, but they all look the same to me with just a little bit of color differance.

I did get a chance to play the 360 yesterday, and I guess I am not really all that impressed. But I will leave that for a different thread and not hijack this one.

Those ones were much worse, but I agree there doesn't seem to be any really good ones there, at least they didn't pick that ugly gold lunchbox. Although the final design is better looking it was probably choosen near the last minute out of several dozen very similar ones like the ones shown.
