Over the past week, I have been working on an article on the unreleased snes game, Targa. It is a hybrid shooter/ Contra-style action game made by the creator of the Super Turrican series. Here it is:

ew...the american version looks retarded. i prefer my contra-style shooters to be without cavemen.

Read and savored every word!

I agree the player character looks strange in the original version...maybe it's Tom Hanks after he spent a few more decades on that island? The world will never know, though ;)

Rendering Ranger is very tough, especially during the spaceship sequences...but it's also awesome. I'm more than happy, personally, to kiss Super Turrican 2's annoying grappling hook controls goodbye, though the levels tend to be perhaps a bit too opened-up for combat. If you don't like the cramped feel of many older Turrican games' setting and the Psycho-Niks Oscar controls, though, this one is likely to be a pleasant surprise.
