Whuddup mah dp gamers?

The first game I ever played was on the old black and white Mac. It was an Alien spoof that was very much like the original movie. Unfortunately, I do not remember the freakin name, but I know I can help describe it.

You could go from room to room in the spaceship, and there was an eatery, a place to long-term sleep, there was the main cabin (with a detonation device), there was the smaller spaceship (that Ripley made her escape in) etc.

I remember a few things, such as being able to detonate the self-destruct system, the ability to get in a spacesuit (that would take damage well when confronted by the Alien), there was a blueprint (that would help you assemble a flamethrower), as well as finding dead Alien skin, small Alien, and the massive Alien. Also, the sound effects were ripped from the movie itself.

The thing that bothers me the most is that I never could be able to beat that game. I would fry the living shit out of the Alien when I would run across it with the flamethrower, I would detonate the self-destruct system and take off in the smaller aircraft, but nothing provided a "happy ending." Now, I never could kill the Alien by using the assembled flamethrower....and if I remember correctly, when you would start the self-destruct system and take off in the smaller spacecraft it would say something to the effect that Ripley is now lost in space forever...so now I have to know....

Was there ever a way to get a happy ending to this game???

I'm a HUGE classic Macintosh gaming fan!
Just look under my name!

I thought long & hard about what game you're referring to & I came up empty ....
But I know who could know ....
The wizards at the premier classic black & white Macintosh computer gaming website "Macintosh Garden" (http://mac.the-underdogs.org/index.php?show=all).

I took the liberty of copy/pasting your question on thier bulletin board.
Here it is > "80's Macintosh Computer Game -- "Alien" Spoof Question" On "Macintosh Garden" (http://mac.the-underdogs.org/forum.php?forum=1&topic=2&thread=4482&last=1131731746).
Check in every now & again ta see the answer -- they respond quickly!

Great! Thank you. I appreciate that fully. The first response was incorrect as the game he is referring to is not what I am talking about. The game I am referring to is a direct replication of the movie in a game. I do appreciate you modifying my post and editing some of the content. :P

Again, I appreciate you trying to help me out. We'll see what happens, or if anyone has even heard of it. My guess is that it got pulled due to having direct sound and story copyright infringement and got pulled... Since the name wasn't the same, they probably never had the rights to make the game....

thank you again.

A memorable black and white Macintosh game featuring spoofed aliens.... Cosmic Osmo? (From the makers of Myst!)

Otherwise it could be anyone's thirty-minute Hypercard project.

Hella thanks to you, CaryMG. Finally found out the name. It was, indeed, Bug Hunt. I played the crap out of that game when I was ten. It's kinda neat thinking about those times nowadays and actually be able to remember the title, etc. It was the genesis of my gaming days, so it makes me smile.... Thank you.
