Wow, a neo geo game at a thrift store, thats a crazy find, although 25.00, either their really knowledge, or most likely just basing that price off an old price tag, you should have tried to negotiate that down a bit, either way, still a good deal and a really nice score

After hearing the official word from Nintendo this week that the Revolution won't be supporting HD, I picked up a new "reserve" Gamecube for when my '02 model finally dies. I'll be damned trying to play Twilight Princess with S-video.
http://www.digital-joker.de/gchardware/Gamecube-hinten.jpg
Even though the digital AV Gamecubes haven't been manufactured since May '04...my local Circuit City still had a few of the DOL-001 models hiding away. I literally had to blow the dust off the boxes.

Thats how much it goes for on line. Plus I dont have to pay for shipping, so I didn't mind so much.
Shame the game sucks. Oh well.

OmG, a Neo game from a thrift store! How the hell did you find that?!!!!!!

Actually, they obviously use ebay or something because the boxed system was 200$. I tried negotiating the price but they were not very reasonable. Oh well, a boxed neo with two games, a controller, memory card for 250 total isn't bad. Probably nearly the same price online with some 80$ EMS shipping BS.

Well, my find is about two weeks in the making, but it just arrived today: a gen-u-ine Vectrex! :D A friend of mine found it in a record store in Missouri for $45. It refuses to work for more than a few minutes at a time, but I'd say I did pretty good nevertheless. 8-)

Sometimes you find something you didn't even think you'd want, but it turns out to be a great gift from Bira Bira.
I hadn't had a good score at Bookman's since I found Virtual Boy Jack Bros. a few months back. My girlfriend wanted to pick up some craft books she had on hold there, so I went along for the ride.
Lo and behold, they had a Mattel Aquarius, in the box, with mini-expander and four games, for $20.
$20? Sure, I thought, why not? I like the Intellivision and I'm always up for a new console experience, however limited it might be.
Wellk, everything was as minty as Fort Knox. Everything is in it's original box, and they all fit in an outer box that has nice photos and a big sticker on it:
CONTAINS 4 GAMES
On the sticker it lists Burgertime, Snafu, D&D, Astrosmash, Biorhythms, Nightstalker, Tron, and Utopia; with big clumsy magic marker checks next to the last four - those were the ones I got.
All overlays, manuals, warranty cards, etc. looked brand new. I especially like the schmancy art and the shape of the game boxes and carts.
It has a poorly-designed mini-expander that has two cart slots and two controller ports. But the controller cords are very short, and the ports are on the very back so that they have to stretch over the unit, and boy is that clumsy.
The controllers don't have any fire buttons! The control disc is comparable to the Intellivision's, but it only has six little chiclet buttons that are hard to use compared to the original bubble-wrap-like ones. Basically, these controllers are a big step back from the Intellivision.
Every game except Biorythms originally came with two small controller overlays and two halves of a keyboard overlay. Woe to the poor kid who had to try to play these games with only the keyboard for control - yikes.
Tron is not as good as the Intellivision (or even Atari) versions, I didn't like the background or the clumsy gameplay, and the controller buttons stink for throwing teh disc with any accuracy. The de-rez sound effect was weak. It just didn't feel like Tron.
Utopia I enjoyed. It is less polished and playable than the original, but it didn't hurt the game so much and I ended up getting pulled in for awhile. Not bad, but no improvement, either.
Nightstalker, despite the clumsy ass control, was very cool. I've always been partial to the 2600 version (Dark Cavern) that I had as a kid, so I'm not a huge fan of the Intellivision original. This version had cartoon-y bright colors and quick gameplay that was closer to Dark Cavern for this gamer. It would have been much more satisfying back in the day than the other games if you were stuck with only an Aquarius to play on.
I'll tell you something about the Aquarius Biorhythm -- it's not even Y2K compliant! It says in the manual "the Aquarius will assume that all dates are in the 20th. Century".
Ha! The Bally Astrocade version of Biorythyms will work with any date, BC to AD. Take that, Mattel! I bet even the RCA Studio II version of Biorhythms is superior to this......perhaps a gaming first??
So, I think I definitely got my $20 worth. Eveything packs up neatly into a compact box that will know stand proudly alongside my Intellivision system and games.
I'd love to try Burgertime, D&D, or Astrosmash for this system. So, if anybody has any Aquarius stuff for trade or sale........

I went to Walmart and EBGames today. Saw the Xbox 360... BEING SET UP AT WALMART!! :D I also played it a bit after the vendor was done setting it up. I'm convinced enough to buy the premium package.
Anyway, when i stopped in at EB, I picked up some display items. I don't know what every one is, though, since they are still boxed up.
I also picked up a promotional item for the new Shadow The hedgehog game. (Don't know exactly how to describe it - Seems to be a small black case in the shape of a PSP UMD? Still in shrinkwrap, so i haven't any idea of what it is)
And, all of the display items were free. :)

This week my brother traded the first Ratchet & Clank (Greatest Hits) for The Simpsons Hit & Run, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell, and Madden 2005 (all ps2). He got R&C for $20 at best buy. He told his friend this. He told his friend he was getting majorly ripped off and that he should go buy the game for $20, or at least trade less. For whatever reason, my bro's buddy insisted on the trade and we now have 3 good games in place of a $20 greatest hits copy we picked up on a whim. Lucky us :D

As I posted in the daily gaming progress topic the other night, my boyfriend bought me We Love Katamari as a surprise present the other day.
And today we went out to Manhattan to have some guy properly set up his guitar, and since it ended up being cheaper than expected and my boyfriend was in such a good mood over how well it was done, we stopped in the nearby GameStop and got Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life for $17.99 and R-Type Final for $14.99. Nothing too special, but cool nonetheless. :)

Slow week. Waiting on the 360...
MDK 1 - Dos/Win95 ($3)
Perfect Dark Zero - X360 ($49)
I was so happy finding MDK 1, though. I loved the MDK series. And I decided to go ahead and get a 360 game to avoid the hassle on release day.

Pretty dead at the thrifts for games but I stopped off at an antique store and rummaged around in the comic books.
