Better late than never. Congratulations to Mr. Baer on the award. Now maybe somebody can do a homebrew game of his journey in video game history. RB's Krazy Chase :D

Congratulations to Mr. Baer! It's well-deserved!
Just a silly question: 2004 award? Announced in Nov. 2005? They're a bit behind in that organization, aren't they? :P

Good for him.
If it was Nolan though, it's quite possible he'd decline the offer.

This is very good news!
To everyone who is interested in the history of videogames: by all means buy Ralph Baers' book! It is a very important hands-on account about the development of the game industry, moreover, it is an important document about the Baer-Bushnell controversy. Baer delivers compelling reasoning based on facts, it is a non-nonsense book in which the subject becomes more important than the person of Ralph Baer.
There are no "entertaining" stories told, but the well-thought out reasoning about many facets of the early years of videogames is first class and makes the book an entertaining read.
Thanks to Leonard Herman, Steve Kent and Baers book, the record about the "founders" of the game industry has been corrected just in time when it was still correctable.

I feel very lucky to have one of the very few autographed copies of Mr. Baer's book. I think I heard he signed 127 or so of them...I could be wrong.

Hmmm, I beg to differ. Most of the book is a big entertaining story about the creation of the industry, with plenty of sidestories related to it. While I'm sure he could have packed a book 5 times the size with other stories, that may have taken away from the book's intention of being very much a history book, though very autobiographical.
Incredibly good read, nonetheless.
I don't think anyone ever (and I mean never) is allowed to debate the Bushnell/Baer argument without having read this book first. It is indisputable that Baer came way before Bushnell in this field, and has all the documentation to prove it.

Maybe the award committee is FEMA.
Congrats, Mr. Baer.

Upon it's release, Ralph signed approximately 127 books. I should have numbered them but I never thought about it (Your order was #6 however). Anyway, Ralph signed some more books at Phillyclassic this weekend. I believe he signed approximately 80 books (I now have an autographed copy!)

I'm surprised that the neo cons in office didn't give the award to the guy responsible for the original NARC game.
