I got $14.59. [More info - https://www.paypal.com/settlement-faq/ ]
Ever notice paypal discourages using your credit card? When you pick Mastercard or Discovercard they make you read a full page about how bank withdrawals are safe - blah blah blah.

Forget the details? Something about Paypal refunding money to Buyers - even when Sellers proved the item was delivered - and therefore Paypal's guilty of stealing money. Or something?
It was a class-action suit. I filled out a form in 2004. Paypal gave me money in 2005. Similar to the $18 I got from CD Companies cause they ripped-off customers.
Free money is good. LOL

I have been ripped off by paypal 3 times in the past two months and now I have a negative balance account which I REFUSE to pay. Two were items the buyers claimed to never recieve even though I definatly mailed them. I mail my games either media mail or first class with no tracking because I only charge $3 for shipping and 75cents for additional games. They buyers both got their money back.
Another buyer purchased a few loose SNESes and claimed that one did not work and told Paypal that "item was not as described". In all my auctions I put in my listing "All items sold AS-IS due to the nature of video games. I accept no refunds" Paypal gave them their full money even though I never even recieved my fucking consoles back. I argued with a representative from paypal over the phone and told her the story.
Her response....
"We don't care"
FUCK PAYPAL :rockets: :rockets:

I got $14.59.
I got the same. I figured we'd all get like $50-ish. I wouldn't have bothered filling out the form if I knew it would be such a piddly amount.

Does anyone remember WHAT the settlement was for? What did you have to do, basicaly, or have done TO you, to be elgiable for this?

I thought i'd get about $50 too. But there was a fixed amont of money. Divide by several million people = only $15.

Sorry, your post does'nt tell me anything. Mind explaining it in plain English? I've done PayPal purchases both through my bank account and through credit cards, so it sounds like I should have received settlement notice. :/

Okay, since you're not understanding me, let me try asking THIS way. :)
I KNOW what the FAQ says about what the lawsuit is about. It does'nt actually say, through, which people were ELIGABLE to FILE a claim. Or at least it's not saying it in plain English.
That is, what did I have to do with PayPal to be eligable for a settlement?

- All Persons who opened a PayPal account between October 1, 1999 and January 31, 2004.
a. Dispute Resolution Claims (Long Form and Short Form Claims): You are a "Dispute Resolution Claimant" and can make a Long Form or Short Form claim if you:
(i) experienced or reported to PayPal an unauthorized or incorrect electronic transfer to or from their PayPal account including, without limitation, electronic transfers initiated by (a) you ; (b) PayPal in connection with, among other things, chargebacks, refunds, buyer complaints, PayPal's Seller Protection Policy, Buyer Complaint Process and/or Buyer Protection Policy; or (c) any third party;
(ii) had access to your PayPal account improperly, incorrectly or erroneously limited or restricted, in whole or in part; or
(iii) made a request for information in connection with PayPal's restriction or limitation of your PayPal account or regarding an incorrect or unauthorized electronic transfer to which PayPal did not respond at all or did not respond to your satisfaction.
If you make a valid Short Form Claim, you will receive a payment of $50. If you make a Long Form Claim, you will have the opportunity to provide documentation in support of your claim and thus may be able to receive a larger amount. Both the Long Form Claim Form and the Short Form Claim Form requires you to provide certain identifying information and sign a statement under penalty of perjury authenticating your claim, which may be subject to verification by PayPal's records. The amount paid out for Long Form and Short Form claims will depend on the number of claims received and the aggregate amount of such claims. For more details, review the Plan of Allocation
b. Statutory Damage Claims
If you are not qualified to make a Long or Short Form Claim (Dispute Resolution claim), you can make a claim for a payment from the Statutory Damage Fund. The Statutory Damage Fund Claim Form requires you to provide certain identifying information and sign a statement under penalty of perjury authenticating your claim, which may be subject to verification by PayPal's records. To make a claim for payment from this fund, please complete and submit the Statutory Damage Fund Claim Form.

Thanks. That explains why I never heard about the case to start with....I've been using PayPal since 1997 but never ONCE had a problem with it. No unathorized or incorrect transfers, no restrictions to access, not even any chargebacks. Heck, I used to use PayPal to pay all my bills and what not.....maybe I've just been lucky. :)
Would have liked the money anyway still for lousy customer service the few times I HAVE tried to ask them a question. :)

I filled out that form and have yet to see any credit. Are they staggering payments?
