We all know that Nintendo's R.O.B was difficult to position, made Gyromite ridiculously complicated, and basically sucked, but does anyone else find the actual robot's movements to be surprisngly loud? I don't know if my R.O.B is just broken or run down, but it seems to emit a deafening roar whenever it moves. Has anyone else had similar experiences with this short-lived accessory?

I don't recall mine being especially loud. Mainly the gyro motor.

LOL LOL LOL

Want to sell it? I'd love to have it for the conversation value alone. Is it more of a whirring noise or more of a grinding noise?

Heh, no way! It's 100% complete including the caution labels that were stuck on the gyros, and make them sound like dangerous weapons. I guess it's more of a whirring noise - I just wish I had another R.O.B to compare it to! Maybe I'll pick up the Japanese version :)

I also don't remember ROB being loud when I was a kid, but man--that doesn't change the fact he is gall dang loud. I took him to work to spice up cube a little and cringe anytime someone turns him on. SQUEEEEEEEEEE!!!

I've been trying to think of a use for a ROB. Some mad people have been tinkering with the Power Glove to use it to control their PC. It'd be nice to do something useful with ROB.

The only idea I've had is installing a webcam in the head. But with the whole motorized body I'm sure you could do something cool with it.

Anyone else got any crazy ideas?

How about a room of doom sentry that can alert you of intruders?

Some new games that use ROB would be cool...

So pardon the noob question but were Stack Up and Gyromite the only games that worked with rob? And wasn't Stack up sold with rob?

My ROB is loud as hell. I completely disassembled it and cleaned and re lubricated everything but nope, still loud.

On a side note, that thing is terrible to get back together. It took me a while but I finally got it.

Unless I’m wrong (someone correct me on this if that’s the case), ROB was sold in the complete NES pack with Gyromite, also by itself (neat-o separate box) and the game Stack-up was sold separately.

Gyromite was FUN to play! I really want Stack-Up...
My ROB broke, I think that the gears stripped, because the arms don't move up anymore. They move left and right, and open and close, but sadly, I have to get a new one.

May the Force be with you!

You forgot to mention something..

Gyromite was also sold seperately, in very big boxes (The gyromite parts couldn't be sold without the game)

And, back on subject: How load are these "Roaring" ROBs?
