Getting a silver rental sticker off of a label?

I have a copy of Super Mario RPG that has one of those silver rental stickers that spells out "VOID" if you try to remove it stuck to the label of the game. Any reason that I can't still use goo gone or WD-40? The label is in nice condition otherwise, so I really don't want to screw it up.

The silver labels and the "void" can be removed with Goo Gone, but it takes a lot of rubbing, and I'd worry about it damaging the label underneath.

The laminated label used on most SNES games is waterproof save for the edge. I'd be concerned about Goo Gone messing up the plastic coating of the sticker but you could experiment with a test cart and a q-tip to see how it effects the laminated surface.

Me, I've always resorted to old fashioned elbow grease with those silver void stickers, rolling the thumb along the adhesive and gradually peeling it away with friction. It's possible that using say, a light dusting of flour could clog up the gunk and make it easier to roll off, but I need to remember to try that next time I encounter one.

That sounds like an all nighter. I think I would slowly, carefully peel yhe rental sticker off then just patiently use my thumb to rub all the silver crap off.
Due to the value of that cart and the fact you probably got it for close to nothin it's worth the work,good luck. :)

Same here, also if you have a scrap piece of denim (old pair of pants or something) you can use it almost like sand paper to remove any sticky residue left behind from the void sticker. Not sure if it's the safest way or works the best, but it's worked for me a few times.

Well I got it off, butI got a little overzealous at one point and took a little bit of the end label off. Now instead of saying "Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars", it just says "Super Mario RPG: Legend Seven Stars" Doesnt look so bad though because I colored it in with a black sharpie. All in all, the game looks good for an ex-rental, and I got it for only $4.
