Just took a gander at my IRC window, and I see this:

<Hardflip> omg gg
<Hardflip> I SHALL ACQUIRE

Those are indeed pretty nifty (there's at least two other animated game watches; take a look off to the right side). Thoughts on this? Better yet, does anybody own one?

Personally, I don't see myself buying one...maybe someday they'll make one themed after a sidescroller (it'd have to be reformatted like a flickscreen game, though) - THAT I would buy. Maybe a scene of Samus fighting Ridley, or Link fighting Ganon, perhaps.

For the price, the watch faces are kinda crappy (can't really tell time without studying it for a bit). If I had that kind of cash burning a hole in my pocket, I'd spring for a GB Micro and just not care what time it is. :P

I think the Asteroids watch is bad ass. However, for $130 they should have made the game playable.

A good friend of mine hooked my up with the Asteroids one. The packaging is awesome! It's all bits and pieces from the arcade cab. The watch itself is a thing of beauty. The animation is smooth and even though it's repetitive, it's a very cool effect! I didn't know there were more out there, but I'll be picking them up as soon as I can!

I was thinking about posting something in regards to these, but I haven't bought one yet. I'm hoping to get the centipede one for Christmas. I was shocked when I saw those in the mall. I wanted to get one for my pediatrics rotation because the kids would have loved it.

I actually ended up buying the Centipede one on Friday. It's pretty cool. Watch the girls come running now. :wink 2:

Those things are pretty cool, I like the Asteriods one (if it didnt cost 130$) and the breakout is pretty cool (if it had a different watch band)... I'd consider buying one if it wasn't the holiday season

The Asteroids ones is sweet. I do need a new watch but man a 130 bucks is a bit. I'm surprised more people arent interested with this info on the watch

Limited edition of 5,000 pieces worldwide (only 2,000 availabe in the U.S.).

I might pick me up one of them Asteroids watches.

But if they get Pac-Man or Robotron, that'd be better.

I like the breakout screen more than any others, but that band kills me :/

So, what I get from the info page, is that the animation isn't constant, but that you have to push a button to activate it, is that right? I can only imagine how many batteries these suckers would eat if it ran all the time.

You can turn the background off by pushing a button. If it's turned on, the animation goes constantly. There are 3 settings with the button; no animation, animation, and a screen where every image on the LCD screen is lit up. There's no backlight, and it's just a simple, colored LCD, so I don't think it's going to be all that battery consuming.

I think they all come in two different band styles; leather and metal.
