I mean like the Beam Gun toy or the Ultra Hand? Or those Hanafuda cards. I would love to see a picture of these items. I seem to remember the Love tester from the mid-70s, but that was a gimmick really.

I own the puzzle barrel, a Rubik Cube style game, but it is not boxed. The game is credited Nintendo 1980.

I don't own any of those, but I got a laugh out of the title of the thread. It reminds me f this one time when someone came into #vbender and said "Hey do any of you guys like old video games?"

Nope. :( But here's a (blurry) picture of the Beam Gun:

I have a video of the duck hunt game in action. It projects the moving birds onto a wall, and you have to shoot them down. I found the video on an ebay auction that I may have bid on had it been less than $300.

I too, loved the topic title. Here's a pic of Duck Hunt, circa 1976 (not mine):

When I read the title I was thinking, surely this guy is joking.

I've never heard of these things before, but they seem neat. Cool pictures.

I almost spat my drink when I read the thread title.

No, I don't have any of that stuff. Would be pretty sweet though. I haven't seen any Nintendo stuff in person that's older than the Game 'n Watch stuff.

Duck Hunt looks fantastic though.

Nintendo still makes hanafuda cards, if I remember correctly. Would definitely be cool to have a deck of one of their very first releases, though. :) It would be a freakin' antique, hehe.

Funny title name. I too thought the poster had surely gone mad.

Anyways, the only thing close I have is the Nintendo trading cards from the 80's, but those were based on games from the NES. That Beam gun is interesting. I never knew of Nintendo "toys".

I've never heard of these things before

I'm sure many of us are familiar with them in one way... a lot of them have been featured in Wario Ware! :)

I mean.. the Ultra Hand, the Love Tester, the pitching machine, the cowboy laser gun thingy... as part of Nintendo history they've all been on Wario Ware in some form or another. So these outta all look familiar if you've played the game in any capacity :)

Anyone ever hear of the "Ten Billion Barrel"?

Great thread! I like looking at the pics of vintage Nintendo toys. I didn't even though they existed before I picked up Wario Ware...

If you're a dog owner, and you play the beam gun version of Duck Hunt, and miss, would your dog appear in front of the screen and laugh at you? :P

If this refers to anything "pre-*Super* Mario Bros., I give mad props to anyone who has a Radar Scope cabinet in his/her house.

The thread is actually about Nintendo's toys, not videogames.

And it's more than pre-Super Mario Bros., and even pre-Game and Watch -- it goes back at a time when Nintendo's videogames consisted in a Pong unit (you'll notice the spice orange color, reused by Nintendo on the GameCube...).

It says "Nintendo's first big success in the videogame console market"... they didn't mean worldwide, but in Japan...

Yeah there were a couple of Nintendo Pong consoles actually. There are some older threads on here where we've talked about them and especially when that seller "Loose Logic" starts selling them on Ebay. LOL

I kind of regret not saving his pictures because they were always real nice and detailed with the boxes and all.

From what I've found by Googling, this is actually the second Nintendo Pong unit. The first one looked more drab in its beige color. That one is prettier and it's an early example of Nintendo's affinity for cute colored plastics. :)

Anyway, back to the subject of Nintendo non-videogame toys. I know that Gumpei Yokoi was behind the design of most of these toys.

Hey thanks for all your answers, and yes, I am female, with long hair and cute looks (well I say so).

And I own the ten billion barrel, never knew it was called that.

I knew of Nintendo's Pong consoles, I think there were four, according to Game Over book.

here is a picture I took of some of the original hanafuda cards. They were in a small museum type display outside the employee store at Nintendo of America.
They aren't mine, but, um, they are in my heart?
There is also an ultra hand, and a game & watch in there.
Nintendo also made some cards for Walt Disney, back in the day.
I'll take 'em if anyone has a set!

Ive always wanted some of the Hanafuda cards, I like the boxes the cards come in.

I was aware of about...half of these toys.
Someday when I had the cash, Ill start collecting them .
What sweet conversation pieces!

The beam gun will be the first one I get! :D
