I will buy this game if someone has it, I have only seen one copy ever. My friend and I split the cost for it. It was for commodore 64, it was called "Spell of Destruction" You were like this mage that had to solve puzzles/mazes. The view was from uptop and at an angle. What set this game apart was it had some demonic components. One room we entered had a huge pentagram on the floor. MY friend and I were pretty freaked out. We hadn't seen anything like that in gaming. Has anyone seen this game or know how to get one? I ended up giving it to my friend and I havent seen him in 15 years. ;(

I've never played this game before. I'll definitely have to check it out.

thanks flak! I can't believe you found it! That game was crazy! Very hard puzzles, but like I said, some strange demonic stuff hidden in the game. Man I wish I had a sealed copy of that game! :D

We all know Flack is a gamer, for sure!!
Now that is solved, on the same note, does anyone remember:

Autoduel- by Lord British- haven't played this game since apple 128- is there any emulated versions or any other way to get this game- without a apple 128? I'd love to be able to play it on my PC or modded Xbox.

Black Magic- also last played on apple 128- a side scrolling game where you are this little dude that can run and jump, climb ladders and fight off flying enemies and other baddies. Don't know who published this one, but it was a VERY FUN side scroll action game. Also would love to emulate this one.

Any ideas or help??

Well both of those games can be played via emulators for sure. I just checked VirtualApple.com (an online Apple II emulator) but it looks like their domain has expired -- oops!

If you can't find an Apple ][ ROM, note that the game was also available for Atari 8-bits. I have no idea which version was better though.

Hmm... MobyGames says it was available for Amiga, Apple II, Atari ST, Commodore 64 and DOS but NOT the 8-bits. I'm not sure that's right...

Okay, The October 1986 issue of Computer (http://www.atarimagazines.com/compute/issue77/Autoduel.php) says that both exist, and a Mac version was planned.

So, you've got some options. :-)

Actually, I reviewed Spell of Destruction for QuestBusters many years ago. I agree, it was a great game with a GREAT soundtrack. What I didn't like about it was ONE LIFE and NO SAVE. Very fun, but it sucked when the game ended and you had to start alllllll the way at the beginning again.

Spell of Destruction. I enjoyed this game for a short while. Could not get ver fay into it (I still have it somewhere). Had that cockeyed angle that I did not see again until Landstalker. I do not think I have ever seenany game that resembles it...

I'll. Be. Damned. @_@ I just found an on-line scanned copy of the review of Spell of Destruction I did for Questbusters back in 1987. Here's the link:

Regarding Apple II disk image files...if you've got an FTP client, go to ftp.apple.asimov.net. They've got just about everything there, and I KNOW they've got Autoduel because that's where I got it from. :)

I've mentioned this here beofre but it deserves to be repeated.

apple.asimov.net (ftp://ftp.apple.asimov.net/pub/apple_II/) is THE place to find roms to all of your favorite Apple II games.

Edit: The ftp site seems to go down from time to time. If it's down when you try to access it just try again in a little while.

As for as a Windows based emulator AppleWin (http://www.tomcharlesworth.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/) has always been my favorite. It's free and really simple to use.
