What's the game you've heard the most about and everyone seems to like but for whatever reason or other you haven't got around to playing yet?

Mine is FFVII. Of course, now that I seem to hate RPGs after growing up loving them, I probably will never play it.

Same here i'm i'd like to play FFVII but between my distaste for 3D FF games and the fact that it's graphics make my eyes bleed i doubt i'll ever play it.

Deus Ex tried playing it but it run at 3x speed on my comp for some reason. Its impossible to shoot someone at that speed.

Ditto. I own Civ II and Deus Ex but never played either. I own Halo 1 and 2 but haven't touched 2 at all since I fell asleep on the first level of Halo 1.

Plenty of other contenders though - I've played none of the DMC series, Super Metroid, Half Life 2...

Actually, I have never played any variety of Half-Life, and my entire Metroid experience was a brief time with Metroid II long ago. (Unlike Civ and Deus Ex, though, I don't actually own those.)

For me, it would have to be Panic! (Sega CD), most definitely.

There are hundreds of games in this category but the ones that stand out most in my mind are FF III (FF 6), Chrono Trigger, and Xenogears.

Many, many here as well. I've only invested about 5-10 hours total in the entire RPG genre. I've invested similar amounts of time in the RTS and turn-based strategy genres.

Pick any title from these categories.

Final Fantasy is terribly overrated, in my opinion. It should be noted that I generally think console-style RPGs suck though, so take that opinion for what its worth.

Anyway, here are some supposedly great games that I've never played:

Kaimatai Democracy (SP?)

Nintendogs (I have know idea as to what the hell this game is about, but its supposedly good)

Just about any Gamecube exclusive (Mario Sunshine, Zelda: The Windwaker, Metroid Prime, etc)

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines

Doom 3

Quake 4

Deus Ex (it ran way too choppy when I tried to get into it)

FFVII, my boyfriend raves about all the time. I've owned the game for about 3 years b/c I picked it up on one of my store's buy one get one free (along with MK Trilogy) and I just haven't had time to play it. Actually, I played a good ten minutes of it when I borrowed it from my boyfriend years eariler. So it doesn't really count.

Gitaroo Man is another one. I JUST got it last Friday and have not had time to play it yet because I've been so busy getting school projects done.

Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow my boyfriend's brother bought the day it came out and has been raving about ever since but I haven't been able to buy it yet because I don't have enough money to be buying $35 games. :*(

And probably a bunch of others I can't think of

Well there's Halo and FFVII. Actually if a decent PSX Emulatro comes out for xbox I may play that one.

Earthbound was always on my "to play" list untill just recently. eBay really made me think WOW.... why is everyone paying so much for this game. I played it and got hooked. Finished it in the summer.

I really want/wanted to play Tron Bonne and Animal Crossing (I gave up on gaming during the n64/ps1/game cube/ps2/xbox) era. and only got back into modern games with the release of the GBA. Thankfully, I now have a DS so Animal Crossing will be added to the library in few weeks.

Was Ocarina of Time up until about a month ago, now I'm on my way to the Fire Temple :D . So I guess I'd say DQ5 which I've had a rom of for a while, I've been dieing to play past the first 30 minutes. I like what I've seen but I just wanna get further in.
Others include:
Super Mario 64
Perfect Dark
FFXI
Xenogears (This is on the deck to be played though)
We Love Katamari
Mario Sunshine
Mario Kart: Double Dash

Dozen, just for the PS alone.

Like recently I got G Darius [because Einhander begat my love of horizontal shooters]. Now I really wish I had Radiant Silvergun, but I've never even seen it being sold here.

Plenty more beside RS too, but that's the 1 on my mind.

The game that pops to my mind is Castlevania III for the NES. I love nearly all the Castlevania titles but never got my hands on this one. I didn't even know about it back in the days... Now I'm looking for it but I've never stumbled over it for a decent price (or when I did I was broke).

I have yet to play Adventure on VCS. I have no excuse for this infraction, and hope to embark sooner rather than than later. I feel as though I must conquer it, for it calls to me.

God Of War, Metal Gear Solid 3 and Resident Evil 4

Even though I own all 3 of them I just have never gotten around to playing them.

I want to see what all the fuss is about.

That big holographic arcade game in the James Bond movie where they get electric shocks when they play bad. Always wanted to play that one.

I've missed out on every big PC title since 3D graphic cards became popular. I've played console ports but nothing on PC.

I guess the entire Final Fantasy series would be on that list for me.

Me too. However, Dawn of Souls and the upcoming releases of IV, V, and VI on the GBA, and the remake of III on the DS, are going to introduce me to what seems to be a great series. I can't wait.

I've never been into RPGs too much though I've at least tried a couple of the Final Fantasy games and Secret of Mana and perhaps one or two others. I've never played any of the Sonic the Hedgehog games for the Genesis and have yet to play the last (so far) Metroid Prime game for the GameCube. Yeah, I've not played Ocarina of Time either.

You'll have to tell me the best game I've missed out on. I haven't played anything on any of these systems:

Genesis, Saturn, 32X, Dreamcast, Playstation 1 or 2, XBOX, XBOX 360, N64, GameCube, GB, GBA, GBC, GB DS, Neo Geo, Intellivision, Vectrex, Jaguar, 3DO, CDi, or Atari 5200. I have an SNES, but have only tried Super Mario All Stars and Super Mario World so far.

So.... no Halo or Resident Evil or Grand Theft Auto or Chrono Trigger or Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter or Mario Kart or Pokemon or non-NES Zelda or non-NES Final Fantasy or non-SMS Phantasy Star or Ultima or Myst or ...

Most probably Policenauts. :(

As for games released in NA, Little Samson, Earthbound, Dragon Warrior IV, Phantasy Star IV, Wind Waker, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, etc. would be on that list.

The great majority of the LucasArts Adventure games, particularly Sam & Max Hit the Road scooted under my radar during a time when my radar wasn't blipping on full power.

Grim Fandango, too, but I don't even remember who made that. (Was that also Lucas Arts?)

There are a number of Infocom games that I'm postively ashamed of having never gotten around to:

A Mind Forever Voyaging
The Lurking Horror
Wishbringer (though I never heard that this was "good" or not)

Oh, yeah, and a little franchise called Dragon Warrior that I've never even emulated. (Yes, I intend to, someday. Especially with Dragon Quest VIII looking so sweet. Of course, I can't play it until I play the previous seven titles, even the ones that never came out in the US.)

Halo, Resident Evil, and many more.

Policenauts was good, I tryed to play it on the 3DO, but there's too much Japanese that I can't understand. :(

Never got around to playing these:

-Final Fantasy XI (wasn't a big fan of the fact that this was created as an MMORPG)

-World of Warcraft

-Dragon Warrior (the whole series)

-Halo 2 (have had this since it came out, but I just don't like it as much as everyone else I know does)

-Castlevania (Harmony of Dissonance, Aria of Sorrow, Dawn of Sorrow)

-Paper Mario & Paper Mario:Thousand-Year Door

-Grand Theft Auto series

World of Warcraft (I might buy it when I get a better computer, but by then I bet a sequel will probably be out.)

Xenogears (It's in my game drawer as my brother bought it and beat it, but I never found myself playing it.)

Final Fantasy IV (I heard it's good, and I have Final Fantasy: Chronoicles. However, I pretty much just bought the set for Chrono Trigger.)

God of War (I heard it was an excellent game, and my brother was playing a demo of it. Looked good, but I don't see myself playing it in the near future.)

Prince of Persia (I haven't played any of them. Actually, I played the second one (Or first, not sure) at a friend's house and I kept jumping off the balcony, landing on stools, then using the sands of time to rewind what just happened so I can see myself break the stools again. LOL )

There's definetly a lot more great games that I haven't played, but that doesn't mean I haven't played my share of classics. :)

hmm, i probably won't play xenogears, since my dumbass never got the american version, and i only have the japanese millenium collection version that came with an awesome action figure. dunno wat else. since i've played most of the games everyone else has listed.
i KNOW i will never play that god of war game. my ps2 is dead again(fixed it last week and now had failed again) so im missing out like crazy on the playstation goodness.

Awesome, awesome game. You'd love it. :) My boyfriend has the Japanese version, Switch. It's hilarious.

As for me, I'd have to say Chrono Trigger. It used to be Xenogears, but the more I hear about it, the less I want to play it. Chrono Trigger, on the other hand, looks great.

Does Secret of Mana count? I've played about 10 minutes of it twice. I really want that game :(
