I broke out the Mega Man Collection on the GC this morning for the first time in quite a while and found it to be rather disappointing. I already have most of the game on the disc (except for MM 5, MM 7 and obviously the Power Battle arcade titles) and find that I like the originals much better than the ports. The controls feel kind of numb and the graphics are rather blurry (nope, it’s not my TV, I’m running it through S-Video). The same goes for the Zelda collection disc as well. I just prefer the originals, using the GC controller really takes away from the game. Funny enough, the originals also look better….hmmmm.
Any others feel this way?

The XBox version is the best version. The grpahics look sharp and the controlls are customizable. For some reason they reversed the Jump and shoot controlls on the cube so it's incredibly uncomfortable to play.

yeah, the reversed controls on the Cube version prompted me to trade it in for the Xbox version. I was pretty pissed about it, but at least they got it right on the Xbox.

yes reversal sucks
I have it for PS2 and I think it's perfectly fine. The controls issue is a common complaint about the GC version tho, which is why I'll be getting the X Collection for PS2 as well.
As for the Zelda collection the controls work great for the N64 games, especially when you have to use the C strick.

I had it for the PS2, but I found it's control scheme very uncomfortable...so I got rid of it. I still haven't picked up the XBox version yet.

I totally agree about the Gamecube controls and graphics, I too have the both the Gamecube version and then later the Xbox version, and if you notice the health meter in the gamecube version is new and more stylish but in the Xbox version Capcom reverted back to the original NES style health bar.
I don't agree with the Zelda Collection though, its graphics are the same as the originals on my TV for Zelda I and II but are even better for OoT and Majora's Mask except for the loading issues, but whatever it was free we shouldn't complain.

I have the PS2 verison, I like the control setup by far.
The Cube I cannot even play for more then 20 mins.
Xbox is perfect, I like the extra intro they added.
As for the blur looks via S-Video, the PS2 suffers from the same thing, I need to check out the Xbox verison
I didnt know this, but the Xbox verison added in the first episode of the MM Battle Network Cartoon, instead of the other toon from the early 90's

As I said in a thread here last year, the XBox version is hands and away the BEST version to get.
You have --
1) Very good graphics.
2) Quick load/save times
3) Ability to customaize the controller to four different schemes
4) Both bonuses (the cartoon and the interview)

I enjoy it on the, GC but i can agree with every one here. The controller set up stinks. That's why i use a adapater and a, PS1 controller it feels right to me that way.
Still i wounder why, Capcom couldn't had a button configeration in the frist place x_x

I dispise the MM collection. I have all the original games and the collection doesn't do them justice. What's worse, when you get to MM8 they use the Playstation version instead of the Saturn version!
I guess the collection is ok if you've never played any of the MM games, but if you have played them you're going to notice every single glaring flaw.

The one good thing about the Gamecube version is the ability to use the Hori retro gamepad controller.

...and yes, that's probably the only good thing.

That reminds me, the PS2 verison will not use the SF Pads at all, it will ask for an Analog PS2 controller and nothing else.

That still doesn't help the problem, the buttons are layed out the same as on the regular controller. Really nice otherwise. 8-)
