is that jamie presley as tina?

Yes it is. Now excuse me i have to go vomit, violently.

I've never seen such an injustice done and i'd really love to see both the writer, director and the guy at Tecmo who gave the go ahead hanging from the highest yardarm.

Seriously what the fuck is this Shit? That's not DOA? That's not even streetfighter, it's something much, much worse. And what the Fuck are Kasumi and Ayane doing fighting on the same side?

I smell Double Dragon all over again. Since when did DOATEC join forces with The Foot?

Fuck!

Video game to movie .. bad, all bad. :(

All it takes for a decent film is to get a good director, decent budget and production values, and intelligent casting. Also helps if the script is somewhat interesting.

Up to this point, it seems that Hollywood and the licensors are perfectly happy to roll out this garbage, this absolute tripe, and because people are SO used to it, it makes a little money anyway.

I didn't like Halo the game, but maybe the movie has a chance, if they can give it the talented support it needs. Btw, Jim Cameron (Aliens, T2) is the only perfect choice for Halo.

Sadly, it will probably be Ewe Boll @_@ LOL

I must have missed the bra-fu in the games.

Ya'll check out the description for it?

A feature adaptation of Tecmo's bestselling game franchise "DOA: Dead or Alive". The movie centers on four female fighters in a competition to the death on an exotic island.

DOA: Dead or Alive. Yep.
And I really thought there were 5 females during the schizophrenic camera sweeps.

Bungie has already declared that there's no way in hell Uwe Boll is touching their baby.

That's what it was. I knew I had some idea of what it looks like. Would have drove me nuts! LOL

Given that I couldn't even finish the recent CA movie, that makes me even less excited for this.

Wow. They took a terrible idea for a movie, and made it worse.

This is the worst thing I have ever seen in my life. I would not be surprised if this was worse than Bloodrayne.

What can anyone expect from a DOA movie, looks about as silly as the game concept.....................

Someone obviously doesn't know the DOA story. Watch this and then tell me that stupid trailer fits the game.

DOAU Intro (164 MB) (http://www2.ltlowe.com/~suprnova/DP/DOAU_intro.mpg)

I'm hosting it so there's no delay.

I'm sorry, but the director missed the entire point of the series by sticking with the female characters stupid-blonde sex image. DOA, imho is not just focused on T&A. The volleyball game ruined the image however, so I can see how the movie's director can be under the impression this is how the game is suppose to be.

And this also fuels the fire on why Hollywood blames the video game industry on the decline of films. When in reality, it's vice-versa.

You're telling me you seriously consider the trailer for DOA on par with that moving intro? Well that's you're opinion and you're entitled to it, but god damn i honestly don't know how you can say that.

Noooooo!

Another excellent game franchise is scared with a terrible movie. This looks so ridiculously bad it makes me sick. How could anyone making the movie look at this and think that it is a quality movie. Anyone even involved in this movie just reserved a spot in Hell

I knew it was gonna suck but geez.....

Lets hope if they make a ninja Gaiden movie, it will be made by a good director, and hopefully the Halo movie will show them how a game movie should be made.

Rise fwom yo gwave.....

*56'kers beware!*

Here's some new-ish pics from the movie. I don't know why, but I'm looking forward to this one. I'm getting Street Fighter w/ Van Dumb vibes off of this....but I actually enjoy SF; it's in the so bad it's good category. I'm not a big fan of Jaime Presley, but she's looking good in this one.

What the fuck? Is that realy suppose to be Bass and Zack? For that matter the only girl that even slightly looks like the videogame counterpart is Jamie Presley as Tina.

No Brad Wong to be spoken of however it is kind of ironic that Robin "Liu Kang" Shou is in it.

bwahaha

that looks awesome.

I've always been a fan of silly/bad video game movies, I think when you take a game too seriously it just kinda kills it, like those "Serious" cartoon street fighter cartoons? crap..laughable when they try to make guys throwing fireballs and green monsters named jimmy serious,

the bad b quality movies fit video games to a V
I loved the live action street fighter and mario movies because they were light hearted and fun.

I'll go see or most likely rent (direct to bargain bin anyone) doa ,just for the fun of it (and you know..I've always been a fan of blondes beating each other up)

video games are (should) be all about fun, so as long as they have some fun with the movies i'm all for em.

Just watched this mess. I mean mess. I'm just going to cut and paste my as of now unedited review and let you all have at it:

What Dead or Alive does best requires no skill at all. With a cast containing Sara Carter, Devon Aoki, Jaime Pressly and Holly Valance in skin tight and/or skimpy clothes it’s not hard to find some sex appeal. Based of a video game of the same name, at least this is one game based mess that tries to stay true to the source material, regardless of whether or not it works.

This is a bad movie. In fact, it might end up as the new definition of bad movie. You’re expectations need to reach record lows in order to enjoy this on any level. Dead or Alive has no sense of flow or focus, and aside from hot girls fighting, you’ll be lucky to make it all the way through.

Opening scenes are played dramatically as the set up begins, even with the wooden and completely unbelievable performances from the actors. The film then rapidly switches tone to comedy, then into over-the-top action. If anything, the film is kinetic and fast paced. Characters are introduced and dropped as soon as kicks start to fly in the fighting tournament they have all been invited to.

The focus is of course on the woman of Dead or Alive, while fans of the game will catch fleeting glimpses of their favorite characters. TNA pro wrestler Kevin Nash plays Bass, a hulking brute that couldn’t have been cast better. He’s the only one on payroll that seems to “get it,” camping it up for his limited screen time.

Painful dialogue, atrocious special effects and knock-off fights do nothing to keep this film engrossing. There are some excellent concepts for the fight scenes, and the choreography is spot-on. These moments are the only memorable ones, and even then, the excess wire work and overused slow motion are tiring.

There are slight attempts at working in other aspects of the video game series, including an extraneous volleyball game and one vs. all action romp that recalls the Ninja Gaiden series of which Dead or Alive spun off from. Style choices here again cause problems, as the entire effort feels forced. Sure, the women are great to look at, but in the middle of a fight scene, it kills any flow the action had when a slow motion zoom to a specific body part interrupts.

Other aspects continue the film’s downhill slide. The attempt to stay true to the game can make some of the actors look ridiculous when in full costume. There are pieces of random action tossed in for no apparent reason, such as forcing the fighters to parachute from a plane in order to secure their spot in the tournament. The latter is so ridiculous and absurd, it destroys any hope of enjoying this in the first 20-minutes.

Behind the action is a story full of, well, nothing. There’s a sub plot involving a safe full of money that ends up going nowhere other than to pad the running time. A rivalry between two fighters (Ayane and Kasumi) isn’t fleshed out enough to warrant its inclusion. It exists solely to get an extra fight on screen, much like any other plotline. At its worst, the ending doesn’t resolve much of anything, leaving the fate of over half the cast lost to the viewer.

On a brain dead level, DOA can be enjoyed for a few of its elaborate fight sequences. Trying to make sense of how or why these fights are happening isn’t worth the effort. Credit is due for staying close to the game’s characters. Beyond that, this clunker lands in a pile of video game based movies that seems to be growing larger by the day.

I'd rent it or watch it on TV simply for Sara Carter.

I don't think anyone out there would seriously confuse this movie with "high art".

Matt's outrageous claim of truth True to the game my ass. I suggest you go back and watch DOAU's opening. nothing in that movie really followed the source.
