The Nintendo DS, as you may know, celebrated its one-year anniversary earlier this week. I feel it fitting, now, for us to pick our favourite game from the last twelve months. I would have included a poll (cutting out the crud, like Ping Pals and Shrek, etc), but it included too many options.

For me, personally, it is a tough decision. I've only just received and started playing Metroid Prime: Pinball and Mario Kart DS. Both already seem first-class, but I haven't played them enough to warrant picking them as my DS pick of the last year. Meteos is probably my choice, simply because it has sucked so much of my time since I bought it. It was also a game which really drew me to the Nintendo DS, helping to form that strong bond I have with it now. I just couldn't help but fall in love with its addictive nature and oddball music. Genius.

Hmm that's a tough one... I'm kind of torn between Phoniex Wright, Meteos and Mario Kart. Ah Hell, it's Meteos.

For me, it is most definately Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow.

If enough people put forward their pick, I'll tally up the numbers and post the overall "winner".

As much as I enjoyed all 15 of my games, and how great mario kart ds is, I must say I really enjoyed castlevania thoroughly. I was addicted to soul harvesting, and this was my first 2D castlevania game.

Yeah, I'd have to go with Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, with runners up going to Trauma Center, Lost in Blue, and Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan! A notable absentee from my list is Mario Kart, which I haven't gotten to play yet.

Phoenix Wright for me.

Although it was a tough call between that, Trauma Center and Mario Kart. If you were to ask this same question in a week or two, my answer would most certainly be Animal Crossing. :)

Save your vote for a year two thread - coming soon, this time next year ;)

Castlevania, no doubt about it.

I guess it's too early for me...I only have 3 games so far: Nintendogs, Super Mario 64 DS and Zoo Keeper.

Definetly Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan!, with Castlevania coming in 2nd, and Feel the Magic in 3rd.

It was Castlevania but I recently got Super Princess Peach and I might like it even more. Either way, they're both amazing.

Wario Ware and more recently Tony Hawk's American Sk8land which I am enjoying more than I ever thought. I will be buying Mario Kart soon :)

My favorites are between Kirby:CC, Trauma Center and Castlevania.

And the winner is............Trauma Center, totally enjoyed the gameplay, boy did it get hard/hectic.

Kirby Canvas Curse.

Pure, unadulterated fun. I genuinely can say that this title alone sucked me right out of my "anti-gaming" phase. The learning curve gradually increases until it's no longer necessary, and you get to choose the order to defeat the bosses. New gameplay, new premise, new look for kirby. The controls responded beautifully and with precise timing.

Of the last 7 years, I don't think I have enjoyed a title more than Kirby Canvas Curse.

Of my 3 games, Meteos, Polarium, and Wario Ware: T!, I'm going to say Polarium. Sure the other 2 also rock, but this one rocks harder. :rocker:

I had the most fun with Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow and Lost in Blue. :)

I think I'll love Mario Kart DS when I get it in a few days. However, I REALLY l,ove Daigasso! Band Brothers (I think it's my favorite), Super Mario 64 DS, and Tennis no Ojii-sama 2005 Crystal Drive (Prince of Tennis). I heard Phoenix Wright is good, but I'm also getting that in a few days, so we'll see.

Ouendan and Jump! Superstars is fun, but not as fun as those mentioned above.

For me, it was either Advance Wars DS, or Mario Kart. I sunk a lot of time into Advance Wars, and loved every second-ended up recharging my DS battery like 3 or 4 times because of that game alone. Kart I haven't put as much into, but the fact it has online play is definitely worth a lot.

Hmm, that is a tough one. I really like Mario Kart DS, Pheonix Wright, and Truama Center.

I think the best though would be Mario Kart DS.... I have been playing it alot. The new mission mode is alot of fun, I liek the retro courses, and of course there is multiplayer. Mario Kart DS gets my vote.

out of what I currently own.... tough one, I don't really care for any of them honestly. If I had castlevania, I have no doubt I would vote for that, but I don't have it yet.

I'd probably say it's a close one between metroid pinball and feel the magic.

I would say driller spirits, but it's the first time I've ever played it, if I had played it previously, I probly wouldn't love it as much since it would be the "same old same old"

It's without a doubt Ossu! Tatakae! Ouendan, with Castlevania being 2nd, and Jump Superstars being 3rd.

Getting my DS next week (Nov 30th?) when Mario Kart bundle arrives. I've got some games "on hold" to be purchased with the bundle......and I'm betting that my favorite will most likely be Mario 64 DS.

I think I'd have to give it to Phoenix Wright, although Castlevania, Wario Ware, and Meteos are all excellent games as well.

To be fair, I have a number of DS games that I haven't gotten to play yet, including Mario Kart, Lost in Blue, Trauma Center, and Trace Memory.

There's so many great games for DS, but at the moment I'll have to go with Mario Kart, it's the only game I've had in my DS since it came out.

Super Mario 64 DS.

My vote will have to go to Meteos
Shout outs to Ouendan and WarioWare though.

Had a lot of fun with Yoshi and Meteos. Those were really great games, and both were prime examples of the touch screen at its best. They're also perfect for bus rides and coffee breaks, and remind me of the classic arcade games that you can burn through in a couple minutes.

Advance Wars DS should be in everyone's library, and it's about as true and steady as you can ask. That said, I'm peeved that: 1) I can't go online, 2) I can't store more custom maps, 3) I can't download or upload said maps, and 4) we're stuck with so many of the same old War Room maps. Ignore me, I'm picky. I'll be the one praising the hell out of the next game, whose only difference will be online play.

Zoo Keeper was fun for a time, but that Quest mode was so terrible, so frustrating and cruel, that I just couldn't touch the game anymore. I'd still look forward to a versus match, however.

Polarium had a good puzzle mode, but I just felt handcuffed by its arcade mode. Ugh. Pass.

Metroid Pinball is a load of fun, great for short bursts, and challenging for the long haul. I even like that small board that's used for versus games, although I wish you could choose among all the boards.

Mario Kart is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

I just picked up Tony Hawk, and it's pretty good so far. I'll need more time to see how much I like it. I loved the first two THPS games, but the series just seemed to slide into oblivion afterward. Hopefully, online turns out to be good, but only two players? Boo!!!

And when, for the love of Elvis, will I find Castlevania in stock? Or used games for under $20? The $40 price tag is absurd. I don't like paying that much for Criterion DVDs.

Man, how to decide? So many of the games are absolutely phenominal, and all in different ways...

I don't think I could pick a 100% favorite, but my choices would be between Castlevania, Phoenix Wright, Pac-Pix, Kirby, Feel the Magic, and Mario Kart. Haven't played Nanostray, but everyone says that's fantabulous too.

I'll probably be the only who says this but,

PAC 'N ROLL

Honestly that game had me hooked from the moment I cracked it open. Not even Mario Kart has managed to keep me playing as long. The control, the level design, the objectives were all great. Plus a free copy of the original Pac-Man boosts its overall rating too. I really suggest it to anyone with a DS.

However I will say Kirby Canvus Curse is pretty close, as is Puyo Pop Fever (even if I'm not that great at it). I have some gripes with Mario Kart DS which is an entirely different topic, but it's still a good game.

I've done my best to add up the nominations, but some of you guys made it difficult :) This is, I think, what you guys are saying...

First place goes to Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow with 6 votes. Second place is awarded to Mario Kart DS with 5 votes. And third place belongs to Meteos with 3 votes.

Phoenix Wright and Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan! were joint fourth with 2 votes, while the rest of the nominations all received just the one vote.

I can't just pick one so I will give my top 5 favorites:

In no particular order-

Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
Kirby: Canvas Curse
Mario Kart DS
Advance Wars: Dual Strike
Meteos
