Oh man, considering the small but noticable amount of bugs people are reporting, coupled with the insane prices these things fetch .. I'd sell it in a heartbeat.

Spend your holidays diving into classic games, or settle in with some good books (I'm reading 'Into Thin Air' by Jon Krakauer, astonishing!), or with some hottie that you want to get to know better.

Then come Jan, Feb, or whenever, go buy a revision 2 x360 and Elder Scrolls or some such, have a blast and enjoy your $300-500 of pure mad profit.

But that's just me ;)

If it's your intention to sell, then now is the time. You never know when new stock is going to be available.

ty896 is right my local EBgames said they are going to have another shipment before x-mas.

Yeah, so far 3 votes to sell, 0 votes to keep.

Sell, make ridiculous amount of cash.

Repurchase with profits, basically you get a 360 for FREE, might even end up with a 360, and $100 in your pocket for games, hookers, mint frappucinos, whatever :D

Sell that bad boy ;)

With all the bugs and overheating being reported on the 360s I would make the profit and put at least half of it back into current gen or classic gaming.

My store is expecting weekly shipments. How many that is however has not been said.

You never know what the market will be like in 2 or 3 weeks. It could cool off or get even more crazy. @_@

I suppose it will kind of be like playing the stock market.
I would sell, but the question is when ;) And of course I would buy another when the "craze" has died back down.

Laughing all the way to the bank.

Yeah, the saying 'one in the hand is worth two in the bush' is very apt here.

You can double your money right now, guaranteed.

Or you can gamble on it going higher. :/

Microsoft has said that they're shipping 3 million this year .. now you can take that as (A) - BS, (B) - not enough to bring prices down, considering they're launching globally, or (C) - a good indication to sell now before more shipments arrive.

Anyhow .. congrats either way ;)

Each shipment is selling out extremely quickly. At EBGames, the only way you're guaranteed to get one before Christmas is if you preordered one AND go in and pay it off in full, including 2 games and 2 accessories.

Personally, I'd probably sell it right now since I'm impatient. If you held on to it though, they could be hitting $900 or $1,000 by Christmas.

$750, no games, ends in 4 minutes ... might go higher with a snipe ;)

If Microsoft starts shipping 100,000+ every week (which still wouldn't add up to the 3 million they're claiming to bring), the prices will probably go down.

Sell now, hold onto the money, and then buy another 360 and a Revolution with the profit :)

Yeah if you are thinking you want to sell it then go for it. Make a huge amount of cash and buy a 360 later when a better version is available.

You can double your money right now, guaranteed.

Well, I didn't double my money. I made a profit of $248.18 after all costs were deducted. I'm not complaining about making a profit of $248.18.... I mean, I'm very happy to have made a profit at all, but I was kinda shocked that I didn't actually have a $300 or more profit on it.

here is the breakdown:

total received = $769.00

- price of actual 360 unit ($430.99 w/tax and everything)
- price of actual shipping ($40.52)
- price of paypal credit card fees ($22.60)
- Ebay listing fees ($26.71)

Total profit $248.18

The final bid price was $734 and the shipping was $35. The shipping actually came out to $40.52, because I had to put the XBOX 360 retail box into a much larger box with tons of foam peanuts to insure the thing wouldn't break in transit. Microsoft did a horrible job of securing the system in the retail box. If anybody drops their 360 box, their 360 system could easily get damaged.

I was thinking that I would clear $300 or $350, or maybe even $400 if I was lucky, but I just didn't take into account how all the damn fees would add up so high.

I would sell it. New stock will be available soon and the only way to get these things pratically nationwide is through ebay, and prices are still pretty hot. At my store, a 100% confirmed email through Microsoft has stated there will be units in store, on the 16th.

I think there will be one more wave of shipments prior to Xmas, but that's it. Now, when those shipments hit, the prices on Ebay will slip. Not very dramatically, because the average joe still won't be able to get one unless they make it their mission in life to get one. But the prices will take a dip, when people find out that there have been additional shipments. Even if the additional shipments sell out quickly.

Reason being that people will think more additional shipments are just around the corner. So they will do their best to "take their chance on finding one at a store".

But........

Here is the tricky part.

As we get closer to Xmas, and if the 2nd shipment is long forgotten, and you can't find any 360's at any store, then the Ebay prices will shoot into the stratosphere. Some people will go into a panic mode. The wealthy citizens that feel they need to have this product for themselves or their younglings, will pay the piper.

So basically, you either sell ASAP, before the next shipment and get about $750 ish. Or you hold off, and pray for the motherload. Hold off until the last possible moment before Xmas. Throw it on Ebay, so there is just enough time for the auction to end, and still ship the thing prior to Xmas. If the shortage is really for real, then prices will exceed 1 grand.

So it really depends on how greedy you are.

And there is always the worst case senario to consider. Your greed drives you to hold onto it to the last minute, hoping to get $1500 for it in a last minute Ebay frenzy, but instead, the stores are flooded with 360's just a few days prior to Xmas, much like what happened back in 1996 with the Nintendo 64. The Nintendo 64 was selling in the classified ads of newspapers for $500 and $600, but then all of a sudden, a couple of days prior to Xmas, all the stores had tons of N64's available, and the last second scalpers dreams were shattered. Nintendo did an absolutely masterfull job of orchestrating their planned shortage during the Holidays of 1996. They played the public and media like a harp.

I would sell it now and get guaranteed money. Every store I have been to and asked about another shipment said they would get some more before Christmas, and I live around your area so we could be visiting the same stores. ;)

Edit: Um, I thought you were still in Hollywood.

The system was made for gaming, not greedmongering. Keep it.

EDIT: I just noticed this seems harsher than I intended. This is in no way directed at anyone specific, but more at the concept of intentionally buying systems for no reason other than trying to turn a profit off some sucker. IMO, this is pretty weak, but I understand that there's little anyone can do about it. I apologize if I offended anyone.

You might be able to get a higher profit if you wait.

But then, What if you can't?

If you want to sell, Sell now.

Well, truth be told, I actually want to have "two" XBOX 360 systems for my house. I know that it sounds kinda excessive, to have two systems. But ulitimately, I think it makes more sense for me. I sold every current gen system and accessory that I had, and made a complete switch to next-gen gaming. (I still play old schools, but I'm just not messing with current gen anymore for awhile).

All the money that I got from selling all my stuff, went directly to my Xbox 360 purchases. So, I basically decided that I would have two 360 systems for my house.

What ended up happening is that I really liked the idea behind the Costco bundle.... I thought it was good value, so I took a chance and tried to get one at Costco and got lucky. So that gave me one extra system to sell. But it's not like I was buying specifically to sell it. It just turned out that selling one made alot of sense.

I still have one system boxed up, and untouched. I really want to keep it as my second 360, but if somehow I can get a grand or more, then I might just sell that one too. If I can't get a grand for it, I'll hold on to it. So I'm going to wait till just before Xmas and see if the hysteria gets even more intense.

I'd wait to sell. The prices will probably get back towards the 4-figure range, and if not, you'll be able to open and enjoy your 360 without the guilt :)
