How's the game anyway? Like the first? Better? Worth buying?

And what about the PSP version? I'm dying for a new PSP game since I have'nt bought anything since the system came out.

From what I have played I like Battlefront 2 better than one. I would avoid the PSP version. No online and Crap Controls.

No online for PSP? I heard it was susposed to have it. :/ What's the point in releasing it without the ability to connect online?

So BF 2 has all the missions the first one had, plus more? Sounds very good, then.

I believe Flack did a review of this game in his blog a while back?

I asked him about it (xbox version) and he said it was awesome. I had not even bought Battle Front 1 as of that point, so I went out and got BF 1. If 2 is better than 1 , then I would suggest getting it.

I just started playing this last night (on PS2). So far my initial impressions are that it's pretty much like the first game but with more polish in the presentation and some small but welcome tweaks and additions. For example, you can now change classes at friendly command points and playing as a Jedi is cool.

When you begin a new profile, it gives you the option of difficulty level (Normal or Elite). I picked Elite and tried some single player. It was HARD; I had trouble even finishing the tutorial level! I couldn't even get past the first level of the campaign, so I went back down to Normal.

I still haven't played on-line or any space battles, so these are just some early, incomplete opinions. So far my overall impression is positive, but man is Elite difficulty hard.

Edit: More impressions...

I've gone through the single-player campaign mode and played a bit with Galactic Conquest. The campaign is OK but nothing special. It's a bit better than the first game, but on-line/multiplayer is still where you'll be spending most of your time. Campaign is like a story-oriented training/practice mode. The space battles are pretty good, though definitely not quite up to Rogue Squadron standards. One weird thing is that bombs are affected by "gravity", so there is a definite "up" and "down" even though you're in space. Some of the maps are very similar to maps from the previous game, with some tweaks and slight changes (such as Hoth, Yavin IV, Kamino, and Theed).

Galactic Conquest, on the other hand, seems to have major improvements from the last game. It now sports a map you can move around on, as well as a currency system you can use to buy different types of units or bonuses. I only played it briefly, but it seems much more fleshed out and interesting than before.

Yet more impressions:

I've played some more now, including on-line. I have to say there are too many cheap/random deaths. Aside from invisible enemies, mines, and tons of grenades, people seem to really be abusing the rocket soldier of each faction by using him up close on infantry. It's way worse than the M203s on SOCOM. It also seems like there are too many different types of soldiers to pick from (7 for each faction); some of the classes feel redundant or useless. There doesn't seem to be any way to check your on-line stats from within the game (maybe I missed it?). Games appear to shut down completely if the host disconnects (which happened too frequently).

I'm not sure. I had this lined up for rental until I read a review. It's great that they have EVERYTHING including space missions, but the game is so tuned for online, there really is no point. Apparently, they didn't even have a new mission structure or anything to compensate.

The space battles are awesome. You start in the dock of your command ship, board a fighter, take off and fight, and almost all the missions require you to land in the enemy command ship's bay and do some internal sabotage, then take off and land back in your command ship.

It's freakin sweet.

I made a mistake it does have online but it has terrible frame rate and lag problems anyway so there isn't really a point.

EDIT: This is the PSP version the other ones are fine.

I'd give it about the same as the first one. Its mostly the same except the levels. And that you become a Jedi. :D But if you have the first one, I recommend you wait until you're completely done with it before you buy the second one, cause then you can be sure if you still want more of basically the same game.

I don't know, I haven't played it more than an hour or two, it may be a little better than I make it sound, but I don't really like the Battlefront games. I'm trying to say it from a positive perspective rather than negative. :/
