Haven't played that one, but I love Bust a Move and puzzle bobble.

Wasn't that released for most other systems as well? I know you can still buy it for the PC at http://www.cybercitysoftware.com/eajim3dbumo4.html .

Favorite game of the series. I have the jp Playstation release (I never even knew it came out in the US until a few months ago) and used to play it all the damn time with my friends (either on playstation or on my laptop via MAME).

There's two things that really set it apart from the other games in the series for me, the combo system and the characters. Earlier games lacked the awesomeness of the combo system and later games had fucking retarded characters, so it really represents the high point in the series (for me, at least).

I wish Taito had never released another game in the series and had instead just decided to port BAM4/PB4 to every platform known to mankind.

This is my favorite BAM game. I've played the PS one for hours on end and in 2player Vs. i'm almost untouchable with Buramb.

I like this one alot too for more simple reasons (I turn combos/chain reactions OFF)

1. The backgrounds aren't distracting
2. The balls aren't "bouncy" like they are on the gc version, and I assume the ps2 version.
3. It's the only one I own (though I've played many incarnations of this game)

I like the functionality of the triggers as well, which is something you lose in older versions of the game (I believe)

I mainly play 2player tho, so another version may be better for single player action.

It´s the most complete of the series, with several different modes (that one were you are given a grade depending on how well you did is very original), and lots of puzzles (more than 600. I played that game this month, but I´m not really addicted to it. Not because of the game, but I´ve been playing more other games like Sonic Adventure, Fur Fighters or Toy Commander. I´ll try again 2 months later or so.

I used to have this for the Dreamcast. It was okay but the animations of the characters tended to slow the action down which drove my wife and I crazy.

Personally I think BAM 2 (for the Saturn) is the best version of any BAM.

Definitely my preferred version of the game, though I only have the SNES and PS2 Bust-A-Moves to compare it to.
