I SO am thinking about doing this ....

I have an ideas for 3 SNES games :

1] a 3D Polygonal WWII Flight Simulator Ala "Secret Weapons Of The LuftWaffe", "Thier Finest Hour" & "Chuck Yeager's Air Combat"

2] A 3D Polygonal Boxing Simulator Ala "Boxing 4D"

3] A Top Secret 3D Polygonal First Person Perspective Action/Adventure Game .... Called "RealTime" ....

What do you guys think a fair price'd be for a brand new SNES homebrew gamepak?

$25 ?

$30 ?

Later!

Depends if your going to put together a retail lilke box and manual as well. If So I'd say maybe $30. I probably wouldn't pay much more unless it was something I really wanted.

If you produce a cart only with no box or manual I'd say $20

And on the cost to produce a cartridge.

Yeah, you've gotta think of your fixed costs first. Obviously you aren't gonna be able to get blank SNES Gamepaks from Nintendo. So your first costs are old second-hand SNES games (of the correct RAM/ROM type) to use as donor carts, plus as many Eeproms as the size of the game file requires. On top of this there's your time and effort in removing the mask ROMs in the donor carts, and wiring in the eeproms.

Also, it'd be nice to have printed labels on the carts themselves.

Adding all this up, you're on a pretty decent sum already. To be honest, youd be better making up boxart, and providing it for download. So people can print out the box-flat on some half decent thickness card, cut it out and make up the box themselves.

Certainly a very interesting project. It'd be nice to be able to play some quality homebrew games on real hardware.

Quite frankly, it will be years before there is enough knowledge to produce 3D snes games (I am assuming you would use Super FX). As of now, there is absolutely no information on how to produce Super FX demos, let alone Super FX games.

guys, with all respect, stop all that pricing and hardware discussion, it's of absolutely no use, that guy is LIGHTYEARS away from producing even a half-decent 3D (not even 2D) game for the SNES. And no, i'm not cruel, it's just the truth.
