Most of the plug and play systems released have had relatively average selections of games, so I was curious; what would you put in a plug and play system, and from what system?
Keeping in mind that they have to be cart based, and for the sake of simplicity limited to 6 games per controller. Ideally the games would be easy to pick up and play, so as good as it is, Herzog Zwei would not make a good game for a pnp controller :)
My ultimate Mega Drive plug and play controller:
Truxton- Easily among the best shmups on the system, and its a genre thats often overlooked on pnp systems.
Sonic 3- Mainly because I really hate the 3d bonus levels in sonic 2..
NBA Jam- Assuming any licensing issues could be worked out.
Gunstar Heroes- Because its gunstar heroes.
Streets Of Rage- Ill keep it simple and go with the original.
Rolling Thunder 2- Underrated classic.
Im rather curious to see what people would put in systems like the Master System, which hasnt had a pnp controller released yet..

I would say some of the olderclassic systems like the C64 one, ie Channel F, Studio II, Odyssey, or Astrocade.
Or maybe Some of the more classic trilogy's like Ninja Gaiden, Double Dragon, Castlevania, Bonk, or Alex Kidd.
Or the smut plug in play, Peek a boo poker & Bubble bath babes! LOL

Our you could get Genesis Madden 95 and NHL 95 together!
x_x (found it at wal-mart lastnight)
I would like to see one for NES with only early releases on it (Urban Champion, Ice Hockey, Pinball, Mach Rider, Rad Racer, etc)

A 2nd C64 stick that has nothing but all early Electronic Arts games on it:
Archon 1&2
M.U.L.E (Need daisy chain plugs for it to work)
Hard Hat Mack
Worms?
Mail Order Monsters
Pinball Construction Set
An Exidy Stick:
Venture
Pepper 2
Mousetrap
Clowns
Targ
Crossbow
Victory
...but definetly not Chiller... :/
A blank MAME stick, with a USB port for data.. :D

Personally, I'd stick to doing collections of series or game types.
For instance I'd do a Sonic PnP, with Sonic 1, 2, 3, Sonic & Knuckles and, say, Dr Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine.
I'd do a Streets of Rage/Fighting pack, with all 3 SoR games, plus SF2 and Eternal Champions.
And for me personally, I'd do a Shmup/Run n' Gun PnP featuring GleyLancer, MUSHA Aleste, Thunder Forces III & IV, Contra: Hard Corps and Gunstar Heroes.
A Treasure Collection would be cool too.

Maybe they should do an all Pac-Man one...
Pac-Man
Ms. Pac-Man
Jr. Pac-Man (or is that Pac-Man Jr.?)
Super Pac-Man
Pacmania
I know there was a Baby Pac-Man but that wouldn't work without the pinball machine...there are probably some I'm missing like Kick/Kickman (not really a Pac-Man game though he does put in an appearance).

Rog - I was thinking the EXACT same thing today...
I'm going to buy one of these for my mom for Christmas because she LOVES Pac-Man. But she doesn't care at all about the other games on the stick...I'd like to give her one with a selection of games she'd like (especially Ms. Pac-Man).
Baby Pac-Man wouldn't be too hard I don't think, wire a couple flipper buttons to the side of the stick...
I'd also add Pac-Land and maybe Pac-Attack :)

It would be cool if they took some of the more specialized hardware games and did some quick little plug n play games with it. Like put together a spinner controller and slam Arkanoid, Arkaonoid: Revenge of Doh, Arkanoid Tournament Edition and Arkanoid R. Or dual stick it and give us Robotron, Smash TV and Total Carnage. Or put in a rotary stick and do Ikari Warriors, Ikari Warriors 2, Ikari Warriors 3 (bleh), and Guerilla War.
Getting the physical design right for the last two would be a bitch. Especially if you're going for a compact design. Still, those would be some cool, if not different, plug n play packages.

I'd love to have a nice flight-style jotstick with Afterburner, Space Harrier, and Galaxy Force.
I also wish someone would make a decent lightgun p'n'p game. A collection of NES, SMS, or Genesis gun games would be great.
Another thing I'd like to see is a trackball compilation, with Marble Madness and anything else that's good.

I don't know if they've done this yet, but I've never seen one:
I'd like a Kaboom! unit with a replica VCS paddle that had a perfect port of Kaboom! on it - unaltered. Not made easier and no flashy graphics or music, but the exact VCS game. Then I could just grab the thing and it take with me to other peoples houses and whatnot. I want a "Kaboom-on-the-go".

In the same vein, how about a Yolk (it is yolk, right?) controller for Star Wars: The Arcade Game and ESB! The controls are always the hardest thing to emulate in those games.

Which again depresses me that the more recent Star Wars Trilogy Arcade is not available for home play... My GOD, would someone hack that onto a Dreamcast GD-ROM already?!? :grumble:

I've been planning (more like attempting to figure out) how to build a pnp mame contoller... with all the computer stuff inside the controller w/ RCA outputs... maybe even Svideo. It's gonna be a BIG pnp system but I figured it could be played on a coffee table...
On the retail product side... maybe Ultracade could produce one... **shrugs**

The Final Fight series would be a good one.
Also, wouldn't mind seeing the original Contra.

I like the Odyssey 2 idea! Add a little cell-phone size keyboard to the controller....
Not a bad idea!
I'd like to see a DC plug and play. It's gotta have, at least -
-Jet Grind/Set Radio
-Crazy Taxi 1 and 2
-Shenmue
-Skies of Arcadia
-Grandia 2
-Armada
-Bangai-O
-Space Channel 5
and both Power Stone games.

LOL
You may have to wait a while for that, although a Dreamcast-on-a-chip (http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,1558,1667467,00.asp) has been around for over a year.

Well, if you go to Spencer Gifts, you might just find the "Jenna Jameson: Strip Poker" Plug & Play. For about $30.
Or so I have read.
