collection goals

so i have recently gotten back into the gaming spirit,seems to happen every fall or so,and have been working on my collection and trying to get some complete game sets.

so i guess the point of this thread is to say what systems you are trying to get complete game sets for,if any.i am working on snes and dreamcast.i only have about 175 games for snes and 60 for dreamcast so i am far away,but i think i can do both in a few years.anyways where is the fun if it doesn't take time.

so what systems are you trying to complete?

Trying for a complete N64 set and I'm slowly working on a complete PS2/Xbox Sega-published subset.

NES first. Depending how long that takes, I may go for SNES. After those 2 would be Nintendo 64, and then I would be done. NES for sure though.

I just recently decided to finish my Odyssey2 collection. The reason is that I got Ralph Baer to autograph my O2, so I figured why not?

I've never been one to work towards a complete collection, but's kind of fun searching for games you need.

I'm very slowly trying to get a complete US Neo Geo Pocket Color collection. I'm also trying to get every US-released PlayStation RPG (same for SNES for that matter, but I'm fairly close to that without even trying). Honestly, I'm way too poor to try to complete any large library, so I'm more interested in sub-collections (such as how I have every single tri-Ace game and am trying to get every regional variation now). I do dream of a complete N64 collection, though. :)

Don't have any real collection goals... I just buy stuff I like to play, and I never get rid of it because let's face it - trade in values suck.

So my colection is just stuff I like for the systems i own/owned

sometimes I even have to burn/rom games if i don't have $$$

Well im almost done with my Genesis Sonic Collection. And im about to try to get the early 80's consoles like Atari 5200,Intelivision,Colecovision. And thats all i can think of right now.

I mean, I'm like 4 guides away from a compete Versus Books strategy guide collection and maybe halfway started with the GameFan guides (I have SEVEN). My complete Sega CD goal was been pretty much forgotten since this summer...

To be honest, I have never set my sights on completing any specific system or making any "goals" for my collection. I just like what I like, my collection will never be sold off to make way for something else, it grows and changes. I enjoy finding hidden gems, rare games and things like that.

There's virtually no chance of me ever 'completing' any system, since I only collect things that I can want to play [and hopefully enjoy to the full]. So I guess the goal is to get stuff I like.

I don't purposely collect for any system to "complete" it. But I can tell you the Turbografx/PCE is the only system that I will buy a game for only because I do not already own it.

I've actually gotten away from trying to complete 'most' of my collections. Sold off some recently, as I am downsizing.

The only things I'm trying to complete, because I like them (for some unknown reason:
- Odyssey2/Philips - Have almost all the U.S. stuff (just missing the rare pinball demo from a few years ago).
- Timex/Sinclair 2068 - So few game, but so damn hard to get them all.
- Intellivision - don't expect to complete this one, but it is very close

Otherwise, I just buy what I hope I will like. Keep what I like then, or sell/trade it away.

Years ago when I got into RPG's really big, I had a goal of getting ahold of every Squaresoft RPG released on the PS1. I ended up doing this, but kept going by getting every RPG released for the PS1. To this date, the only one I'm missing is Hoshigami. I've seen it a bunch of times to buy, but something makes me hold off every time.

I had a crazy idea of trying to complete the N64 collection, and i got about 155 games into it when i slowed down that process.

I've thought about doing an intellivision collection though, about 2 months ago, I became aware that my grandparents had about 80-90 Intellivision games, all in mint, original boxing, about half of them were never even opened. I'm helping them still unpack stuff from their recent move, and we come across them, they're mine.

Going for a complete PAL Dreamcast Collection. Which might take about a year. Standing at only 39 games so far. Expanding weekly.
Also going for a complete 'Tales of' series collection (Including those spin offs for the GBA) and Star Ocean series collection. Both will include all games from Japan, US and Europe.

same here, I am going for every n64 game, and more than 85% there, and I need 5 games (U.S) to complete my dc collection and I am almost done with my sega saturn collection, I need like 3 or 4 U.S titles to have everyone released, for now thats it, but I have other goals, like getting every Genny/32x/sega cd/ and game gear game ever made.

I'm going for a complete collection of DooM games on all platforms. I'm nearly there just a couple to go but I won't spend a fortune - I'm talking about you 32x boxed version!! I'm also going for a complete PAL DC collection. I have around 90 games at the mo but got sidetracked buying NTSC Shmups! I'm also thinking of going for a complete PAL region DS games seeing as there's only about fifty just now - it really is shit being a gamer in Europe!! :P
