I kind of bought this by accident. I bit on it thinking that I would get sniped at the last minute, but wow! Don't these things usually sell for a little bit over $100?
Um.... from what I can tell, you just bought the box only!!!!

The way I'm reading this, it IS the system, just it comes WITH the box. Read this line in the description:
Vintage 1972 Magnavox Odyssey Gaming system including original box.
That sure SOUNDS like it comes with the system..... :hmm:

That's probably why it sold for so low... the seller listed it poorly.

Looks like a good deal to me. You got some of the hard to find paperwork and the cord & switchbox that are often missing. Sounds like it's missing 3 of the 6 "cartridges" though. Let me know if you need them or any other parts. I have a non-working Odyssey system I'm breaking up.

Very nice indeed but if you want to complete it, you're missing I believe, all the stickers, and the box looks quite beat up, but for what it's worth...

I have a complete non-working Odyssey. I'll be auctioning one of them off, or trading one of them, if I can't get one of them to work.
Anyone here able to work on these things?

Check out the pics...
It also comes with Percepts!!
I hear that this is extremely rare as it was a mail-order game only.
edit: Looked at Online Rarity Guide:
Publisher: Magnavox
Scarcity: 8
Value: $90 (L)oose or (C)omplete: L
Description: This was a send away game available to system owners. From the card included with the system: “If you fill out the enclosed “CONSUMER REGISTRATION and PRODUCT INFORMATION CARD” and return it to us… we’ll send you a free ODYSSEY GAME!”. Very few of these are around. The game uses one of the original six cartridges for play, and consists of a screen overlay and cards. The game may have had a box. I wonder if Magnavox would still honor their offer thirty years later?
I know for a fact that the game did not have a box. It just came in a cardboard box.

Hey, stop picking on me.... ;)
I wasn't the only one who misread the original ebay post (see above). If a description is that bad, there is always a chance to misread it. end of line!!!
