IMHO: it sucks. It's not comfortable. Hard to use buttons, no "feeling" for the game. Thumb keeps slipping of the mini-stick. I really don't like it. But i've heard people that are really fond of it, so i guess this is a "try-it-out-for-yourself-to-see-if-you-like-it" kinda deal :)

personally that is the only controller i like using when i play my 7800. i end up using if for 2600 games a lot of the time too. you can unscrew the thumbstick and make it more like a nes pad if that's your thing.

I have a pair of them and I love them, the original is so unresponsive, this controller isn't as comfortable as a NES pad but close though, when you unscrew the mini stick the pad can be a little tough on your thumb and the buttons are a tad low on the pad but overall they are great.

I used to use these exclusively on my 2600. I've found that the original joysticks are better for some games, but I still use these pads a lot. The joystick does unscrew, which is how I use em.

For the 2600 I always use a good Genesis pad. However, iirc, those don't work with the 7800. Anyone know plans to make a Genesis pad work with the 7800?

As for the pads in this thread, I think they's OK....FAR better than the original sticks, imo. They again, I've never really been a huge stick fan. I'll usually take a good pad anyday for most non-analog stick games. Some fighting games are the exception.

I like them. I also play them without the mini thumbstick. I started with the 5200, and spent a lot of time on the NES & present, so I was used to pads, kind of like them. But I prefer the Tac-2 if I had a pick of 2600 sticks. I'm also quite fond of my Questar.

Hey you should also keep watch on ebay Australia for the pads. They tend to run a little cheaper down under, and with conversion rates it works out a little better. Even shipping's not bad for a pair of them. I think I bought a pair for less than $20 shipped to the US from AU. Bidding on ebay.co.uk could cost you twice as much.

Compared to a standard NES pad, they are garbage.
Compared to a standard 7800 joystick, they are awesome. They are a necessity for playing the 7800 in my book.

If you are still looking for some, you might want to ask Darth Vader (member here). I got mine from him a long time ago and he apparantly had a lot of stock left.

Seconded. But I can't use them at all for 2600 games. The problem is that I'm used to playing 2600 games with the right-handed CX-40 stick whereas and the 7800 pad is a left-handed device. So my brain tells the hands to do things that they're not set up for with the pads :frustrated:. One of my down-the road mod projects is to take an old NES controller and wire it up as a right-handed D-pad for 2600 use. That'll be like playing Missile Command while wearing gold-plated diapers 8-).

One of these is a better option (take your pick) 8-)
