I get occasional messages from various "informants", this one came in last night and I'm not sure what to make of it:
GREAT NEWS!! possible alternative/more affordable solution than the
X-Arcade!.
Found out quite by accident actually while using the NEO GEO/RAGE
emulator version 0.6 at LEAST that Saitek's Cyborg 3D Gold USB JOYSTICK
ACTUALLY WORKS JUST LIKE A FULL BLOWN ARCADE CONTROLLER!!!!. that's right
DON'T/WON'T have to PRESS 3 FOR THE QUARTER OR 1 maybe not even 2 to
START THE GAME ANYMORE!! SIMPLY PRESS << on the RIGHT! FOR QUARTER/TOKEN
INSERT AND >> on the LEFT! to Start GAME PLAY!!!. if you were to have a
second one of these I'd bet/wager it would activate player 2 by pressing
>> on the second controller as long as it is set to the second one OF
COURSE!!!. haven't tried on M.A.M.E Don't have a copy yet also don't have
two of the Cyborg 3-D Gold joystick(s) controller yet but considering
doing so NOW!!.

The email you got was about a cheap alternative to a joystick for emulators on your pc. I have an X-arcade, and I use it with my DC and PSX/PS2, and not on mame, because I would rather play a real game than a rom.
Nothing wrong with playing emu, if that's what you have to do though. :rocker:

Wait. Don't you play games like Last Blade, Mark of the Wolves, Marvel vs. Capcom on Dreamcast? You know those are just emulators, right?

Yes, but soon I hope to be playing both Last Blade and Mark of the Wolves on my Neo instead of my DC, but since i can't use my X-arcade with the Neo, it really doesn't matter. :rocker:

Folks, there's playing MAME on your PC and then there's playing MAME on a REAL arcade machine, with a real coin slot, real arcade monitor, real arcade buttons, and real arcade joysticks! (That's what I'm working on now).
So in that case, I see no difference between this MAME machine and any real video game system that plays emulated games (e.g. PSOne with the Intelivision emulator)

P.S. Ever conisdered building your own controller??? It's really easy, cheap and you can put whatever graphics and joystick/button orientation that you want! Plus, it's a neat way to burn time!

Maybe you can show Butta how to rig his X-arcade to a Neo-Geo!

I don't care if these things are the closest thing to the arcade, if it's over $50.00 for 8 $1.25 buttons and a $12 arcade replacement stick then I'll pass.

That would be quite nice. :rocker:

Are they emulated? They're not ported and optimized for the DC?
the kid
I seriously doubt they are emulated on DC...
