MK: Deadly Allicene sure sees it's fair share of blood.
Oh and Blood Rayne 2's amount of blood is just insane.

Splatterhouse, of course! Some rooms are boxes of quivering flesh, after all.
Killer 7 is very bloody, but most of it's pretty stylistic and even fun to watch (i.e. shooting Heaven Smiles).

F.E.A.R. has lots of blood especially in the part where you walk to the hospital room and you are walking through a pool of blood.

Wasn't the original build of Thrill Kill supposedly the most violent game ever at the time?
jajaja
11-30-2005, 07:48 AM
Thrill Kill was banned because of all the violence yes, but I dont think it was mega bloody. The same company made another game for PSX too, Torc: Legend of Ogre Crown, which was also banned which I dont quite understand why. You have much more violent games than this one.
I remember seeing back on a gamecover for a PC game once in a store like 10 years ago. It was a fighting game where the floor was covered with blood up to their knees if I remember right. Maybe it was just the level that was like this, but it looked very brutal. Soldier of Fortune for PC also have its amount of blood.

My understanding was that it simply wasn't released because it wasn't very good, not because it was too violent.
Going for straight blood from characters, I think that Kasumi Ninja for the Jaguar is really up there. I love how low kicks still produce a smattering of blood. The thing I don't understand about that game is that people complained about the poor animation and the weird special moves... but Mortal Kombat was a huge success mostly due to just those reasons. Kasumi isn't a great game, but it isn't as bad as some people make it out to be if you realize it was made to be kind of cheesy.

Tecmo Knight was pretty bloody for an older arcade game. I mean your attack was basically jumping on peoples heads and clawing them off gradually. O_O

I think this is one of the only games where you acctualy can shoot off bodyparts. Like if you shoot him in the arm first it will fall off etc. I know some games where you can shoot off bodyparts after they have died tho.

Every story I've read claimed that E.A. decided to exercise censorship on behalf of its costomers. Many gamers who played bootlegged copies of Thrill Kill said that they could understand EA's decision to can the game on account of how unimpressive it actually ended up playing, but poor gameplay wasn't the actual motive.
Besides, mediocrity doesn't stop EA from releasing updates of its sports games year after year.[/quote]

My understanding is that it was going to be released by another company (Virgin, maybe?) and EA bought that company. EA decided it was too violent and would be too controversial for their liking, and cancelled it. The fighting engine itself was used in the Wu Tang fighting game on the PSone.
Truthfully, I have a copy, I've played it only on PC emulators (my Playstations aren't modded) and it's certainly no worse than some of the other fighting games of the time. It's definately fun, with a sick sense of humor. Pretty tongue-in-check stuff, with midgets on stilts, evil nurses, etc.

I agree with your opinion of the game. Thrill Kill has some neat concepts, character design, and atmosphere going for it, even if the gameplay does leave something to be desired.

How about the old arcade game Time Killers. There was tons of blood and cutting off of limbs in that game. It came out around the same time as Mortal Kombat and was pretty much overshadowed even though it was more bloody, albeit in a less realistic way I suppose.

Thrill Kill is not that bloody.
But it is really awful...i'd bet that they didn't release it on account of it's awfulness.
Control is horrible and unresponsive, hit detection is atrocious, graphics are too unrecognizable to care if it's violent.

Max Payne 2 does have a modification that allow excess blood to spew from the villians... but I think it's worse in BloodRayne 2 there may even be a cheat for more blood... and IIRC it has vats and rivers of blood in that game even a blood factory.

I am trying to remember the name of a game. The ads had a guys eye with a sword's blade pointed at it. The games also had a warning to the effect of "this game is extremely violent and should not be played by anyone under the age of 18." Something like that. I believe it was a PC game in the mid to late 90's.

Phamtasmagoria 2 may have featured a couple of rather gruesome scenes (Remember Dr. Harburg?), but on the whole, the game isn't consistently violent, bloody, or gory (which great as far as I'm concerned, since I loved being immersed in the game's plot).

Actually the sequal Blood Storm is far worse, you can cut off people's legs and arms and the opponent can still keep fighting, they call them either legless victory, armless victory, or even limbless victory, nice, some of the finishing moves are quite morbid.
Another bloody game is called Survival Art, can't believe MK got all the scrutiny, this game beats MK hands down, it's like Samurai Shodown which you slice people in half, with all guts coming out in MK1 (Pit Fighter, ie) like animation.

Sword of the Berzerk definitely has a high blood count; the US version supposedly has 30% more blood than the Japanese!
D2 is definitely a gory game, though the long sections of clean white snow tend to make what red there is more shocking. Silent Hill 2 is pretty saturated in the blood though.
Also, though it's a bit silly looking nowadays, Vandal Hearts showed some nice blood sprays when you finish off an enemy.
Turok and BloodRayne are the two biggest blood baths I've played.
