If there's any justice in the world he'll be run over before he can claim the money.

I remember when Steel Battalion came out for Xbox there were several auctions like that which were deceptively worded. You weren't bidding on an actual Steel Battalion unit and game, but merely cheat codes for it. It went for over $100 if I recall correctly. It went into great length describing the Steel Battalion game itself, really pumping it up absurdly, then something to the effect of "now, wouldn't it be awesome to have codes for this game?" and a brief alludement to the fact that what you were in fact bidding on were codes for the game.

People who are stupid enough to bid $500+ on an auction without fully reading the description, should be forced legally to pay the winning bid.

That would be true justice ;)

Auctions like this popped up for the original XBox, and it was only a matter of time before they popped up for the 360. I was expecting an auction like this to show a lot sooner, though.

Notice that there are two bidders that "entered the wrong ammount." However lame these kind auctions are, I can't help but pitty the fool that won and admire the guy that got all that money for a box.

I found his reminder especailly funny

- You are not bidding on an Xbox 360 console, you are just bidding on the box to a premium Xbox 360. The Xbox 360 Box has been opened, so that I could take my Xbox 360 console and accesories out (to play, and keep), and so that I can sell you just the box.

That's the way eBay's terms of service work. A bid is a binding contract that is not negotiable outside of extrenuating circumstances. In short - the bidders do have to pay, and they will just get a box.

Hehe.

No, they don't have to pay. They can say they sent cash in the mail or whatever, and just lie. They might get their Ebay account suspended, but I would never pay somebody for some crap like that.

That's assuming the guy isn't one of those people who pay right after the auction is over, by then it would be too late.

Here's another one. This one clearly says it's just the box and it got up to $611.

This one is even better:

This is not even a factory made xbox 360 box. I made it myself, just a few minutes ago. It does not contain an Xbox 360 console, just the Xbox 360 home-made box. this box is great hand made by me says XBOX right on it It doesn't look anything like the picture I included in the auction. It looks much better, in my opinion.

That seller's got the "No longer a registered user" tag. Good to know eBay's cracking down on those easy-to-spot scammers, while leaving all those bootleg GBA cartridges, CDs, and DVDs alone x_x
