I don't own a NEX - yet. I would really like to buy one regardless of the compatability issues however know I am curious. Which games exactly do not work? If you already own a NEX post the games you've had issues with and I'll compile the list in this post.

Dead Games:

I don't know if you saw the link... but here's the official list:

Can't help ya with personal notes though, since I didn't buy one.

Looks like Koei and Camerica games in particular are problematic

Actually no I didn't see that. So... I can see alot people being ticked about Castlevania III but other than that what's the big deal? O.o

Anyone with a real hankering for Commando could just as easily break out the toaster. As long as the other 766 boot up upon first try without blinking I'd say it's a fair trade off.

I've looked throughout the whole list and, indeed, most of the "doesn't work" titles are either Camerica or Koei titles. It's still a pretty good list of compatible titles. If it weren't for Castlevania III and Commando, it wouldn't even be an issue. So, indeed, use the toaster for those few titles that don't work (especially if you're a Castlevania or Koei fan) and for the rest, use the NEX.

The 'big deal', as mentioned in other places, has to do with the fire danager and/or damage to your carts by using the system. :eek 2:

I disagree. Camerica and Koei's games are some of the best NES games. Look at how much they sell for on Ebay, and read their reviews on Game Faqs, if you don't believe me. Furthermore, many games have additional glitches and messed up graphics and sounds... yet they are still listed as working. Basically if a game runs, it is listed as working, even if there are significant issues with graphics, sound, or glitches. So if you already own a toaster, you are better off getting the toaster tuned and fixed up. It will cost less and you will enjoy the end result far more.

I wouldnt say their list is for "compatibility", its more of a "will boot" list. Of course compatibility is a personal idea, someone might be outraged with a graphics flaw that I wouldnt even notice. However in my limited testing I have seen NO games that are played correctly. I think there is a fundamental flaw in the sound processing so not one game sounds fully correct. Many of the games listed as compatible have graphics glitches other than the low quality video it already outputs. I doubt anyone has or will take the time to make a true compatibility list; those that care about the quality can easily find many bad reviews.

It is still physically well designed so hopefully Messiah can admit the flaws and rebuild the electronics correctly for version 2. I would buy another one if that ever happens.
