I just posted this on my games blog (V - TNG), and I wanted to pass it along here as well, in case you missed it:

This just hit in the past couple hours, as I was writing the previous post. 4 Color Rebellion, the excellent Nintendo weblog (I visit there everyday, as should you), has just been purchased by CNET. The press release has been posted on their site.

That's a bit of a shock, but 4CR boasts monthly traffic of 500,000 unique visitors. It was bound to grab somebody's attention sooner or later. To what degree will their weblog change? I really can't say now.

While I'm not happy with the continued corporate consolidation on the internet (CNET also conrols Gamespot, MP3.com, and TV.com), I'm happy to see the 4CR crew find their success. Here's hoping that they can continue to do what they do best.

I don't know if you remember MP3.com before C|Net bought it, but it used to be an amazing source for independent, self published music. Now I believe it's a pay for download site.

So, my initial reaction to reading your topic was, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!11!!1!!oneone"

Okay, turns out the whole thing was a hoax. They just threw that page while they were finishing their site's latest upload/redesign. Jerks. I was having a heart attack over here. Dagnabbit.

Well, this was a wonderful waste of time. I knew I should have spent the evening at the coffeeshop reading. Be sure to send your raspberries over 4CR's way.

The old mp3.com was great, a few now defunct local bands were on it and it was great to see them getting some exposure. And who could forget Raptacular.
