Just bought Bubble Bobble Revolution a hour ago. I am bit mixed about it. I like the orginal-mode it plays very well, and feels as the best portable version. The Revolution-mode was a bit of a disappointment. I didn't like the two-screen use and the gameplay just didn't feel right. Other negative point is the lack of a singlecard multi-player, which makes you need to buy two copies ofr multi-player fun. So I didn't have time to check this option.

edit

I played the new mode a bit more now. The level design is a bit strange in my opinion as the difficulty isn't really going up, also I think the bosses I had so far (first 4) are damn easy. The bosses are easier then normal levels, which I think is strange.

I can't compare the bosses with Galaga as I never played that much. They are just big enemies which start shooting in later levels and you have to kill by just hit them with a lot of bubbles. I just found out that for the last 10 levels you first need to get a letter from every boss which I didn't made yet. But just beating them is really easy, don't know what it is about the letters.

Main new functions I found in the game are: charge function to put make a big bubble (which you can also use when you stand against a wall to attack enemies while you're moving fast within the bubble, a ghost which you can switch position with to reach places you can't reach other ways and last is the function you need to blow aganst the microphone to activate some ventilators.

The classic mode has two different screenmodes. Fullscreen and scrolling, last has a little bit of scrolling (a lit bit up and down). I prefer scrolling for most levels, but some are easier in full screen.

I think I like the game more then I first thought. I think the Famitsu Cube & Advance rating (5,6,6,6) was too low although I wouldn't rate it above a 7.

I was completely unaware that there was a bubble bobble on the DS. I dunno how I missed it. I'll be picking this one up.
