Level 113. 1,175,480 pts. Score could of been much better, I was slacking on the challenging stages. By about stage 100 I didn't really care if I died anymore. Your arm gets pretty damn tired by say...stage 40 or so. I don't know how those marathon players can handle it, I think that game was around 1 hour, and my arm was about to fall off.

Mine starts getting tired around level 15-20. I'm not that great at the game (My high score is around 300,000) but it's one of my all-time favorites. The local Gameworks has a cocktail table version, so usually I head there after work to have a couple of beers and shoot some bugs.

That's off my MAME cab. I haven't topped it yet. I was going through this strange period where it seemed like the less frequently I played the better I did at it. This posted high score was done after not playing any G at all for something like seven weeks. Seriously.

However those days seem to be over as my last couple of rounds in the last week yielded embarrassingly piss-poor scores, i.e. - only around 100,000. Time to krack my knuckles and get back in shape.

That's about my high score on the Xbox Live Arcade version... it's just too hard playing with that controller.

that's funny you say you do better when you don't play. i hadn't played my galaga cab in weeks. and haven't seriously tried a high score run in months. then out of nowhere, i just got into the groove and made the lvl 113 run. i know i could make it further, it's just wanting to. by the time the challenging stages start repeating it doesn't even seem like it gets any harder, so from there on, it's just stamina. and the fact after 1 million points you don't get any more extra lives could be another later roadblock.

I've gotten close to 10,000,000 (yes, 10 million) before at it. Best way to display the whole score is to play on Player 2 side in the arcade. You don't obtain any extra ships after 1,000,000, so it just becomes very rote and trying not to make mistakes.

Damn, DreamTR...that's insanity.

I wanted to see what happened to the ranks and the score on Galaga when they went ultra high, so I set a game genie on the NES version to unlimited lives and held down the fire button with a C clamp. Eventually, iirc, the score flips (I think), but what I do remember is the ranking medals start turning garbled crap. The weird thing is, it started using tiles for things that definitely don't exist in the game...couldn't figure out why.

I think I left the thing running for 2 weeks and got sick of it.

yeah, i like said, by the time i was at level 100 i was ready to quit. i think by the time i reached a million i had 3 lives. i just totally wasted them, i was talking with my friends while i was playing and whatnot. i'm interested in seeing how far i can really go if i were to concentrate on it.

It's my favourite game, but I have only been able to break the 200,000 mark. I feel the shame :embarrassed:

I pretty reliably score over 200K, but I've never scored over 300K. There's something about the high score music that makes my eyes water up every time I hear it...just one of those things that makes me remember that time so much.

The most I've gotten was somewhere in the 800,000+ mark. Though I haven't done it in years.
