I have seen a number of people anticipating this limited edition system which was promised for US release either November 28th or December 4th depending on what source you believe. In any event, I can't find a single retailer which is listing this as coming soon or available. Is it coming or not?

I've actually seen and held one, but I live in Malaysia, so YMMV. Pretty cool, BTW.

IGN GameBoy reviewed the new 20th Anniversary edition, so I guess it is on the way. I hope it makes it over here to Britain...

It's so odd that the Famicom edition is coming here. It's not like we have a lot of nostalgia for the looks of that system.
I want more faceplates for the Micros we already have. I need some woodgrain NOW!

Yeah, we have a bunch - I don't think we've sold any yet, though I'm seriously considering it. I really want a new GBA SP though - those are nice.

My boyfriend told me a couple weeks ago that the display boxes came in, and last week I was in the Saugus GameStop and I saw them behind the counter. I asked "is that just the display box or the real deal?" and he said "that's a real one" and I immediately called my boyfriend up and said "I know what you can get me for X-mas!!!" All the ones that came into his store sold out quickly (mostly to his co-workers) but he had one transferred from the Saugus store. LOL. I always said that when I finally break down and get a Micro (because I wasn't totally interested in a GameBoy that can only play GBA) I was going to import the Famicom one for collectible reasons, and when I heard it was actually being released in America I flipped. And X-mas coming up and my boyfriend willing to buy me a system (our 3rd year together he spent over $200 for me buying a platinum GC, Super Mario Sunshine and a 59-block memory card for X-mas) I was all like "booyah! free Micro!" since I wasn't too keen on spending money on the Mirco b/c of its lack of backwards compatibility.
I love X-mas cuz I will also be getting a PSP. I was planning on waiting a loong while to get one, but since my MP3 player died, I considered an iPod, and true, the iPod is the most excellent MP3 player money can buy, but for the same price, I can get something that does 3 things instead of 1. And grandparents rock, because my grandfather would definitely buy it for me, and since he unnecessarily spoils me and my sister, he'll buy the $300 Giga Pack. (when I got the PS2 he insisted on buying the $330 Gran Turismo 3 pack so I would have a game, even though I told them I didn't want GT3 and I was already getting a couple games from my parents. But he did it anyway. And when he bought me Majora's Mask for my birthday, I didn't have an expansion pack but I said "that's ok, I'll pick one up tomorrow" and he left, went back to the store, bought the expansion pack, and came back within 20 minutes because "I should be able to enjoy my gift" so hooray for grandparents)
But, yeah, the Famicon Micro is here and it rocks and I'm getting one and yay! LOL

I wasn't too keen on spending money on the Mirco b/c of its lack of backwards compatibility. The Micro would look pretty silly with a big-ol' "classic" GB cartridge sticking out of it. It's better this way! Sleek, smooth, pocketable. I carry my Micro everywhere.

when I was in Japan I had dilemma that which GB Micro to pick as I was allowed to get only one...
at the end due to the lack of time I got GB Micro Pokemon from Pokemon Centre while we were there for my daughter...
And then I found 20th Anniv edition were practically every where... I may pick it up when the price for it comes down little bit since Pokemon ed is with my daughter... :(

I went to start my Christams shopping (I know, but work is owning my soul as of late.) and I was buying my little brother Viewtiful Joe for the Gamecube, and I saw it behind the counter at EB, so I moved to see the thing, and the guy goes "What are you looking at?" (Not in a mean way, but he wanted to see if he could pull something out of the shelf for me.
I told him "I wanted to see that Limited Edition Micro." He pulled it out, and me being the outwardly person I am, I tried to start a conversation with him, I go "I thought it was weird that they stuck with a Famicom theme, in stead of an NES one." He said "Yeah, it looks sweet. I would totally buy one if I didn't have an SP." I go "Yeah, I have a GBA, two SP's (one platinum, one NES-themed), a Gameboy Player for my Gamecube, plus a silver Micro, and I'm considering buying this." He told me "Hey, I don't blame you, it's a nice looking piece of technology." I looked in my wallet, I had like $104, and it would have been $106 with taxes. So I told him "Here, let me run to the ATM so I can take out some cash", and he said "Sure I'll have it ready for you when you get back". I return pick it up, and he goes "I guess you're a collector of sorts?", I told him "Yeah, I'm a nut for Nintendo related items."
Sorry for the long story, I just had a really pleasent experience at EB, and it made me want to shop there more, just because of that cool employee.

i have three EB in twenty minutes driving from my home and all of them are staffed by boys who know thing or two...
I've talked to some of them an most of them are players themselves with pretty decent knowledge...
compared to them department store just have bunch of idiots who only know PS2 game doesn't work on Xbox and vice versa... :p
anyway I've noticed being the end of the year those EB are having very frequent discount sales days...
I picked up sealed Far Cry Instinct and Soul Calibur III for less than what Soul Calibur III would cost normally... :D

I'm actually stunned this thing came out Famicom themed.
How's the package? Is it like the usual US Micro boxes?

Yup, it doesn't have room for the processor required to play the GB/GBC games. You still need an SP or original GB/GBC system to play those.

Not at all, actuall. It's a very neat box, that has a picture of the micro, and the 20th anniversery thing below it. It's a maroon color, with a white fron, and gold text. The unit itself is beautiful. It's so shiny, that you just might go blind.
It doesn't include a second facplate, or tool to take off the faceplate. But I already own a micro, so I have those. Although, I would never want to remove that gorgeous face plate. That is unless that they came out with a player II faceplate.

I bought one today, but most places around me, I have seen them sitting on the shelves, I got the advance sp with the micro screen, and to me thats more than worth it, but I got the micro for sheer collectibility...I wanna open it, but most likely won't
