View Full Version : Lame excuses for not shipping items...

I won an auction recently for a good price...too good in fact as the seller sent me this message:

"I have Fully Refunded you because i had a big incident with the system. Before i put all things in the shipping box my little girl walk all over the system. The optic lens and the cd door have been break in pieces. I'm sorry. I'm a bit angry to see this beautiful piece of collection like that."

My response:

"More like system self destructed after learning how little it sold for. At least it didn't get lost in the mail or had already been previously sold. I've heard them all."

I always contemplate leaving bad feedback whenever this happens but I always figure there is the .01% chance that they may be telling the truth. OK I know its BS, but this last one just lacked originality.

How about you? Ever have this happen? Have YOU ever done this to someone else after your item sold for too little? Come on be honest. It will be our little secret.

Ask them to send you a picture of the broken unit. If you get a picture and it looks broken then -> shit happens. All other cases -> leave negative feedback.

If his "little girl" is a 100 pound pet pig or something I understand, if not, then give him a negative feedback.

What kind of system was it? Sounds like he left the cd draw out or something otherwise how would it of gotten broken?

I 2nd your opinion, sounds like bullshit.

It was a japanese turbo (pc-engine) duo with a bunch of games. It took him about 5-6 days before he sent this message. You would think he could have come up with something better.

Like the "send me a photo" idea. Don't let sellers make up excuses. Demand proof.

If they don't provide a photo - leave a neg.

I put reserve prices on more valuable things that I really don't want to go for too little. Otherwise I just give it a starting bid at the least I would want. But I think the $.01 start with a reserve gets many more bids and attention, therefore covering the extra price for it. Otherwise, you are just gambling, as the auctions are legally binding contracts.
