I did a search and didn't see this posted yet, so here it is. EBgames.com has Super Princess Peach available for preorder. Says it'll ship on 02/27/2006. Good to know it may finally reach the states, as I've been wanting this one for awhile now.

What market is this aimed for? I really like how it looks, but it worries me that it is aimed for little girls.

I'll surely get it, but it will probably be in the summer used.

Funny... I always thought that her ablilty to float generally made her the prefered character in SMB2.

Princess Peach is kinda floaty - a little, anyway. And one of her special powers (the four emotions triggered by the touch screen) makes her even more floaty.

Looks like classic, 2D Nintendo platforming goodness to me. I'll be picking it up for sure. Any game featuring a sentient, flesh-eating umbrella is good in my book.

Considering I play my Nintendo DS mostly at home, New Super Mario Bros. fits that bill quite nicely :D

Super Princess Peach is an awesome game. I can't picture fans of 2d Mario games not liking it as it feels like a combination of past Marios mixed with its own style.

Hope you got a screen protector. Makes me wonder if there'll ever be a Dead or Alive game on the system. :P

Anyways I got to play Princess Peach a bit tonight. It's hilarious and enjoyable. You get the typical overworld map like in Super Mario Bros. 3 and the Super Mario Worlds but there's a Fantazy Zone-like shop you can visit between levels to spend the coins you got on various upgrades and one-use items. It's pretty cool.

Yeah, I saw this game this past weekend, so I'm pretty sure it was released last tuesday. I have been wanting this game but instead of getting Princess Peach I picked up Snowboard Kids + Age of Empires at TRU.

Anyways, like someone posted earlier, any Nintendo 2-D platfomer is definately appreciated! I will get this in the next week or so guaranteed.

Yeah, I picked this up today (I had it preordered). It's pretty sweet--it makes me realize how much I missed Nintendo's 2D platformers. I'm sure that the fact that it seems to be aimed at pre-teen girls will get under my skin if I'm in a bad mood, but the gameplay's as fun as ever.

I just checked it out from work and will start playing it in the bit (hooray for pooing!).

LOL

Edit: Played through the first world. It's got a classic Mario feel with a nice twist with the powerups. So far I'm liking it.

Picked this up yesterday. I had a hard time finding it around here... I don't think places got many copies in.

Anyway, like just about everyone else has said, it plays alot like a classic mario platformer. It's a bit easier due to the fact that it's pretty hard to die (I actually died a couple of times against one of the bosses). Comparing the number of levels to the time that I've put in this far, I'm thinking that it's going to be around 8 hours to complete.

The levels are actually longer than I expected. Most of them feel about the length of a Super Mario World level. The game actually feels alot like Super Mario World and looks like Yoshi's Island. The powers that peach gets spice things up a bit, but overall it feels like a classic platformer.

I've defeated two of the bosses so far. My only gripe with them is that it tells you exactly what the bosses weak spot is. That's half the battle.

The overworld shop is pretty cool. I'm still unlocking stuff to buy in there, but so far there have been a couple of new abilities for peach and a few songs for the music room. I've unlocked a couple of minigames, although I haven't tried them yet. It seems like there will be some variety to keep me interested.

I'm really enjoying it so far. Who cares if it's "girly" and "easy"? It's FUN. The only bad thing is that this game makes me want the New Super Mario Bros just that much more. :)

I picked it up today, and I'm really digging it so far.

First thing's first. I have to say, if you're expecting the exact same Mario game you've seen many times before, except with Mario palette-swapped for Princess Peach, that is not what this game is.

It is very SIMILAR though. I have no doubts that if you liked the 8-bit and 16-bit Mario games (and who doesn't?), you will probably jump right into this one.

It has all of the laid back platforming, goomba-stomping and block-breaking that we've come to love and have been waiting to see on the DS, so I can't say I'm disappointed at all.

The major difference is not in the level design so much as it is the way you tackle the level. The Princess is quite different than Mario. She has a melee weapon in her umbrella, she has a health bar, she can pick up enemies, and she has "vibe powers."

Plus, there's lots of unlockables. You can find new abilities and buy stuff from a shop in between levels.

But really, the best part is just that it's a genuinely fun platformer, with a really, really shallow learning curve, almost zero. Anyone can pick it up right away and just jump right in very easily.

My only complaint so far is that it is kinda easy, but I'm not that far into it. I still recommend it.

I picked this up yesterday. I must say wow, this is not what I expected. I bought it based on all the reviews from forums and knew it was exactly what I'd like. I was really expecting more of a cheap slapped together game to put Peach out there as a hero. This is way more. I love it!

The graphics are like a cross between Mario & Luigi and Yoshi's Island.

I just finished the volcano. How many worlds are there? I gotta see what kinds of extra stuff there is. I didn't get all the Toads in all the worlds. Only the volcano did I get all of them.

Peach rules. About time she got her spotlight. Now, someone give Luigi a game like this. Not counting Mansion. A nice platformer in the vein of Peach and regular Mario would be nice. At least NEW SMB is coming very soon. Yay! I also picked up Metroid Pinball. Nice to see Peach has support for the rumble pak.

How many worlds are there?

8 worlds with 6 levels each, and when you beat the game, it's 8 worlds with 9 levels each.

SMW - 96 levels
YI - 54 levels (Correct me if I'm wrong?)
SPP - 72 levels

I picked this game up a couple of days ago. I got guff from the lady working the counter, but everyone at work gives me guff, so it didn't bother me :D

This game definitly has it's challenges to it. I could not for the life of me beat the world 6 boss (I won't post spoilers ;)), but finally did today.

Looking forward to the 8-6 boss fight, to see how they play this one out. :D

Great game

Awesome!

SMW - 96 levels
And I remember the day I got all 96! :D Awesome! I hope NSMB has at least this many.

YI - 54 levels (Correct me if I'm wrong?)
SNES version has 6 worlds with 8 levels each. 2 bosses each world. Plus 6 bonus levels. 54. GBA version has 6 more extra levels. 60 here.

SPP - 72 levelsAwesome. Not quite 96, but still good.

In contrast the original SMB has 32. SMB2 USA has 20. SMB3 has 90. SMB2 in Japan I believe has the 32 levels plus 4 for the 9th world and A-D which I guess gives it 40 levels.

I'm loving this game more and more as I play it. It feels like the cousin of some awesome PC Engine/Famicom games Hudson made. Really fun stuff.

The extras include a glossary for every enemy you've fought (with some chuckle-inducing one/two sentance descriptions for each), a sound test that you can buy tracks for (you can also find some tracks in hidden spots in each level, I LOVE how much hidden stuff is in the levels). There are also a few mini-games, I got one where you have to blow some toads around to accomplish a couple of goals.

You get more stuff to buy in the shop based on your both your progress and how many toads you've saved.

Ah, yes the world 6 boss was indeed a pain in the ass. I can't wait for 8-6 also... I just finished up 8-2 last night..

I love the amount of fan service in the game. Little things, like the mini-goombas that get stuck to you from SMB3 and the ravens from YI really stand out as cool.

While the game starts out pretty easy, some stuff gets challenging by the end. One of the levels in world 7 had me dropping a few F bombs. Still, my only gripe with the game (and it's a minor one) is that there is frequently a message block that tells you what to do in order to solve a puzzle.

Awesome game though. :)

Neo Rasa

ha ha. the comment about thinking this was gonna be a cheap game to get Peach out as a hero. I think THAT is the reason this game is getting luke warm press.

Right now I am to the world 3 boss and have every Toad so far.

There is this drink you can buy for 1000 that gives you a BIG coin when you kill enemies. That is a nice upgrade ;)

When you beat the game there is one other move Peach can do. She can do damage when sliding.

I am in the 5th world now. And yea. This game is big. I just wish all the environmental obstacles and boss fights were not spoon fed to you with little help balloons. It is an easy game because of this fact. There are some challenging points, but not as annoying as some past SMB games.

I can't wait to unlock the 3rd mini-game. The 2nd one is a lot of fun.

Well, this morning I finished up 8-6, and without spoiling anything.. I'll just say that I really enjoyed the boss battle. It felt like the rest of the game - very well done.

After you finish the game, it not only opens up the new levels, but also places items back in the old levels. For example, I just replayed the first level and 2 new puzzle pieces and one music note were scattered throughout. It looks like you're going to have to clear every level again to find everything. :)

Actually, you have the ability to damage while sliding from the beginning. You gain a different ability when you beat the game. I also tried the minigames for the first time. The 2nd one is my favorite, but they're all a nice diversion from the main game.

Also, anyone have a good level to rack up coins in? I need to finish out my shop list. :)

If you have the coin powerup that gives you five for each enemy whacked with the umbrella, just hang out by a goomba-spawning pipe for a few minutes :P

If you have the coin powerup that gives you five for each enemy whacked with the umbrella, just hang out by a goomba-spawning pipe for a few minutes :POh my god, you know where the best place to do that is? World 7-3 on the second screen. There is a stack of pipes with 6 Goomba generators spitting out an infinite stream of Goombas. Plus there's 5-coin coins all over the place, lots of blocks with coins in them. It's like Coin Heaven.

And the level after that one, 7-4 has a cool part where you can kick a Koopa shell down a long slide killing two dozen goombas getting tons of coins and hearts.

7-3 and 7-4 are the winners here. Awesome game!

World 8 is awesome so far. I'monly on 8-1 and already it's bringing back streams of nostalgia. The swinging spiked balls are very reminicent of Mario Land 2 in Wario's castle. And the firebars make a triumphant return. I love it!

Can't wait to see how this turns out.

Great game! Its one of those games where you just want to keep on playing. The ghost level was alot like super mario world. Just sweet. Its about time they started making more mario side scrollers. And this time peach is the main character. Kinda takes you back to the days when you could use the princess in SMB2.

Now we just have to wait it out a couple months for NEW super mario bros.

So, I got this game yesterday (from eBayer Gamesfocus (http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Gamesfocus) - who I heartily recommend to you British DSers looking to import!) and I'm loving it!

OK, so already (I'm at the end of World 2) I can tell this game is going to be pretty easy. But it doesn't matter, it is a blast to play. Finding all of the toads is a little challenging, at least. Graphically, the game is spot-on and the music is good as well, though it isn't as catchy as some of the Mario tunes of old.

This game will probably never be up there with Super Mario World, SMB3 or Yoshi's Island, but it is still a really great game. Easily the best platformer on DS right now, in my opinion.

[When I got to Bowsers castle, it said I couldn't go in until I had all the Toads. At that point I had maybe 25-30% of them. I usually rush through the game, and go searching after. HA HA - so true!

And I just found this out. Be sure and get ALL the hidden puzzle pieces and music in all the levels BEFORE you beat bowser! You cannot obtain these after. I just started a new game because of this. You should have puzzle 1 through 4 complete before you face Bowser, I think.

No, as I believe you get a star on a level when you get the three Toads. That changes after you defeat Bowser however, as you will not get a star until you get the music and puzzle pieces in the level.

Just look for the exclimation mark when you enter a room, or if you have the Rumble Pack, that makes it even easier. Or go to GameFAQS :P

I am playing through again and on Area 5. I hope I am getting all the puzzle pieces. I will find out when I get to the end of Area 8.

Finding the new Puzzle Pieces/Music Scores in the "second quest" is for the most part, as easy as finding the toads in the first one. However, I've become stumped on two levels. I seem to be missing one item from both World 7-5 and 8-1. The problem is, I never see an exclimation point, and I don;t have a star on these levels in the overworld. Either I'm overlooking an obvious pipe/door or these pieces are pretty elusive.

Now that I have completed Mario & Luigi 2, I'm concentrating solely on Super Princess Peach. I'm on World 6, and I must say - I think this game is excellent. Personally, I would put it in the same bracket as the other great platformers from Nintendo.

If you take the game on face value... it would be easy to be a tad unimpressed. Each part of each world is comprised of little levels. If your sole aim is to get to the end of each level, and complete the world, you can normally do so with minimal effort.

The real challenge (it is still an easy challenge, mind you) is finding all of the trapped Toads, jigsaw pieces, etc, and racking up serious coinage along the way to buy all of the goodies at Toad's shop. Unlocking all the mini games, completing the enemy glossary, etc, is what this game is about for me.

And I must say, I've really enjoyed this aspect to the game. The game is a lot of fun, and I think the reviews have been a little unkind.

Quick question... what happens when I complete World 8? Do you play some sort of remixed version of the game?

***** Potential Spoilers *****

Three new levels open up in World 1. (Re)Beating the boss of world 1 opens up three new levels in World 2. (Re)Beating the boss of world 2 opens up three new levels in World 3.... etc etc. Also, each of the "normal" levels has new stuff hidden throughout them instead of the toads.

I think it's funny when DS owners are emasculated by games like this, yet they play Metroid Fusion/Zero Mission avidly.

Thanks, JWKobayashi. I've got to the World 8 boss, but I've gone back to collect some remaining puzzle pieces.

YES! BE SURE TO DO THAT!!

Save yourself the frustration of getting about 75% through the "2nd Quest" and having to start over. :)

Question-what worlds can I find the pieces to Puzzle C in?

I'm missing one piece to it, and I'll be damned if I'm going to go through every damn stage in the game to find it.

I am facing the EXACT same problem. I am looking for pieces for Puzzle C and D. I'm *not* going through every level of the off chance. Does the rumble pak kick in/ exclamation mark pop up on levels with Puzzle Pieces?

Anyone care to point me to a good guide for the puzzle pieces?

Incidentally, can the music pieces be collected in the second run through of the game? I can't be sure I have them all, either.

Advice needed!

Just to confuse matters, I read this on the GameSpot forums...

Yes, the pieces you missed will still be in their regular place when you play the second go-round. Instead of finding one more puzzle piece in a level, you would find two. After I completed the first 8 levels and my first encounter with Bowzer, I only had 2 puzzles but very soon into the second round of levels, my puzzles starting coming together very nicely and I ended up with all the pieces and solved all the puzzles. Don't give up, it all works out.

Edit: Another GameSpot topic saying the same (http://www.gamespot.com/ds/action/superprincesspeach/show_msgs.php?topic_id=m-1-26953778&pid=925562)

If that is true, does it apply to the music pieces as well? It would actually make sense, as new puzzle pieces would most likely be on the new levels you open up for each world.

Obviously, this would be ideal, as I have to go through the game again after Bowser.
