A few weeks ago, I got an NES as a late birthday gift from a friend of mine. It was the first time I had an NES since the late 90's, when my mom sold ours and all the games because nobody was playing it (the money we got from that went towards a game for either the SNES or Genesis my brothers and I did play - and I can't remember what it was right now).

Yesterday, I bought a loose SMB/Duck Hunt cart for a quarter (yeah, I probably overpaid LOL ), and I got to wondering how many DP'ers didn't own this cart.

And that led to this thread.

So, if you don't own SMB/Duck Hunt, post here and tell us why.

Not any more. I did, about 16years ago (god that makes me feel old), but I sold my NES a loooong time ago.

Did play that online Flash DuckHunt the other day though :)

Hey dude, you should have made this thread a poll question thing. Then people could vote as to if they do or do not have this game! Is there anyway you can edit your first post to add this?

BTW, I have.

Don't have the cart (even though I own almost 200 NES carts). I've never had the Zapper, so that's why (of course, I have a copy of SMB though).

I actually sold mine, meh

Count me in. When we bought ours, it was the set that included R.O.B., the grey zapper, and two seperate gyromite and duck hunt cartridges. My set never broke and I never sold it, so I never had to get any of the newer smb/duck hunt bundle sets. Go figure.

Don't have one and never have :/ Anybody care to donate one?

Let's make it a project to get every member of DP a smb/dh cart! hehe

I have three! So one could say that 8% of my NES collection consists of SMB+DH carts

Don't have it as I don't collect loose carts, have both games complete boxed and I already have a boxed NES Control Deck.

You get at least one almost everytime you buy up a lot. I have 23.......

I have three or four, plus one cart that also includes World Class Track Meet. They just sort of pile up when you are collecting. If anybody ever gives you any NES games, you'll probably get one.

Not me!

I just got my first NES a few weeks ago and the eBay lot did not come with one.

The connector was broken within 3 days (it was a new one), so I bought a replacement, which is very fickle.

I never even wanted to collect NES, just play a little R.C. Pro-Am. Maybe I'll just get a clone.

Personally, no I don't and I never have.

I get out of owning it on a technicality though. I have Super Mario Brothers and Duck Hunt on two seperate cartridges, and have ever since I bought my NES used.

I think I have at least 3. I might have more, but I can't remember whether or not I sold some or not.
I usually sell them too unsupecting local noobs who think they are rare. Thats pure profit right there.

Nope, I can't find a good deal on one. They always want over 2$ for it. No way I'm playing that.

I had it maybe 13 years ago, but it's long gone now. I don't really have the desire to play either one, so I haven't replaced it.

Nope, don't have one. I never owned an NES until I picked up my top loader in '98.

Though, I think I have both games in a 200 in 1 or whatever Spica cart I have. :?

I've got both the SMB/DH cart, as well as the SMB stand-alone. Don't have a Zapper, actually...

Sosage
12-06-2005, 05:00 AM
It's like Combat. Every pile of NES games I've seen in the wild has at least two copies of the SMB/DH cart. If you buy a lot of NES carts blind, you're guaranteed one. Those collectors that don't have one now, will. Regardless of whether they want it or not.

There's only two things in this world that are absolute boys. Death and owning a SMB/DH cart.

Haven't found one for a decent price yet. For some reason, I only find them at EB, and I'd be ashamed of myself if I paid what they're asking.

SMB/DH is a funny cart for me. For the longest time I had it, then I didn't. Then I had three carts : 2 SMB/DH's and 1 SMB/DH/That Olympic Pad Game. Then I didn't have ANY of them and I had to buy myself another SMB/DH.

Weird.

yup....i have the one that came with my original purchased new NES system

i might have an extra or two lying around somewhere

i have both games on seperate carts too

plus i have the 3 game cart that has track on it as well

With a game that was so mass-produced and for the fact that it was pre-packaged w/the system, it's hard to believe that some people never had this cart, although anything is possible. It's also hard to believe that some people never owned an NES. I was telling my boyfriend about this thread and he said that when he was in grade school with another friend of ours, that friend of ours said he never owned one and my boyfriend called him a liar because it was hard to believe anyone could've passed up on the Nintendo back then LMAO.

This cart to me is almost as important as any cartridge out. So many people I know played this. Either alone or with there friends or family. This cart was a get together for us.

Do you own SMB/Duck Hunt?

Funny as I usually do..but sometimes I don't ... :P
Since I always sell-list these with the NES systems I sell I'm often giving up my own copy...
Then when I get more I put one back in my collection.
Nonetheless I still have SMB..and Duck Hunt seperate cart's on hand if I really needed to play the game.(or multi game carts)

It does bother me a bit when I don't have a SMB/Duck Hunt in my collection..(as common as the cart is..
Sis in law comes over once, looks at NES collection says''Where's your SMB/Duck Hunt..............."Uh Oh"......x_x

.....as common as the cart is..I don't find them much at the Flea markets..anymore.
When I find one in a NES system I buy at the flea I'm like "SCORE!!" :D

Besides, I don't own a NES.

I actually do not. I do own the SMB/Duck Hunt/World Class Track Meet cart, though. It was the pack-in with my NES.

I also own all three games in their original, separte cartridge form.

A lot of people have joined DP since this thread died, so if you're one of them and don't own SMB/DH, this bump is for you. I'm also wondering if any DP'ers who didn't own the cart when I started this thread have it in their collection now.

I still have mine with my original NES that was bought for me back in Christmas '87. This has to be the most massed produced cartridge of all time, or pretty close at least!

03-25-2007, 11:00 AM
I had eight copies of the game up until last year but I used them to "pad" various lots that I sold here on DP and on Ebay. I wasn't expecting to play the NES again anytime soon, so I got rid of my last copy a little hastily. I need to get another one again but since I don't own the zapper, I'd prefer the Mario cart by itself and forget about Duck Hunt or World Class Track Meet.

I sold all of my original NES games, console, and controllers back in the Fall of 1989 to buy a Sega Genesis. One of those games was (not surprising) the SMB/Duck Hunt combo.

About 4 years ago, I bought a NES + games from a friend of mine. One of the games was Super Mario Brothers...with no Duck Hunt! After a few months I tracked down a cheap (<$1) Duck Hunt cartridge and how I have both games...albeit separate cartridges.

I've got two(2).

My first was from me original action set. the cart has the 'Super Mario Bros.' sticker from the NES Players guide(black book) on the side of the cart

My second is from the other action set we bought when the first deck was having issues. Everything in the box except the console has remained in the box to this day - untouched and gem mint.

*both action sets were the ones that have the gray Zapper.

Since my childhood NES was my brother's and he sold it long ago, I didn't have a copy until I bought my own NES and games in the late '90s. It was among the first batch of games I got, and I believe I paid 3 bucks for it. :P

I've had a second copy for a long time now too, but I can't recall where it came from. I have at least one copy of the manual as well.

What's funny is that I believe both copies are at my mom's house, so even though I got two of them, I couldn't play them if I wanted to the vast majority of the time. Of course, I have countless other ways I could play it. It's probably been years since I last did, anyway (I think I played it on New Years Day in 2000, shortly after midnight, since I figured there was no better game to start the new millennium with :) ).

I still have my SMB/DH cart. It's not a bad game at all unlike a lot of other cheap games. Also chilling on my shelf is the SMB/DH/WCTM cart, which is really nice because you have a platformer, shooter and mat game all in one cart. It's actually because of that I bought Track & Field 2.

I am another person with no SMB/Duck Hunt cart for the list.

As a kid, my stepbrother had an NES. I had an SMS. The set he had was the one with ROB, so it had a Gyromite and a standalone Duck Hunt. I didn't get a copy of SMB until the late 90's actually. Crazy. My best friend had it, so I could just borrow it when I wanted it, and when I eventually got SMB, it was as a part of Super Mario All-Stars on the SNES. Since I had the standalone Duck Hunt, I went for a standalone SMB cart when I started picking up NES games in college.

Nope, never owned a SMB/Duck Hunt cartridge. I bought my NES back in 1986, when the console had been out on the market for just a little while. I did however have SMB and Duck Hunt on separate cartridges, since that's the way it came in my set. I gave them away to an old girlfriend years ago, though. She still played her NES, and I gave her all my games, since I lost interest in Nintendo a little after the SMB 3 price gouging thing.

I got the Deluxe NES set so it didn't even come with Super Mario Bros. Finally, in 1997, I paid 6 cents for a SMB/DH cartridge at a Funcoland so I would have a copy of SMB.

When I bought an NES new back in 87, I had it.... Then in college I loaned my NES out with it and never got it back. Then, about a year ago, saw a pristine copy in a secondhand shop for $.99. Although I didn't have an NES anymore, I couldn't resist picking it up. This hot chick that lives upstairs from me loves playing her old NES, and SHE borrowed it and I never got that back. SO, a month ago, I bought a broken NES at a garage sale, restored it to "like new" condition, and yesterday bought a SMB/DuckHunt/World Class Track Meet 3 in 1 off eBay. I've learned my lesson: DON'T LEND ANYTHING YOU WANT BACK! I'm keeping this one forever!

I was without an NES until CGE 2k5, when I bought a Super 8. I wanted to make sure every aspect of it worked, so I looked for a cheap Famicom game, and got Super Mario Bros. for $5. Since the Super 8 isn't compatible with the zapper, Duck Hunt would be worthless anyway.

So no.

Bump for the newer members (and if for some reason this thread slipped under your radar not only when I started it in 2005 but when I first bumped it in 2007, it's also for you).

I have three now: the one I got for a quarter when I originally started this thread, one that was given to me as a Christmas gag gift, and another that was given to me for free.

I don't. Bought my first original NES used last year, as I had a clone back then. It came with an used SMB3.

I don't think they're even as common here as they are in the US, since the official NES was released here only in 1993, and our Action Set came with SMB3.

I have four copies of the SMB/DH cart, down from about ten from last year. I give one to everyone that has an NES that doesn't own it.

I also have multiple copies of the standalone SMB, standalone DH, and Track Meet, along with three or four copies of the SMB/DH/WCTM.

I get positively riled when I see shops around here selling them for ten bucks. I got into an argument once with the guy that ran the Cash Converters, he had like ten or twelve copies all priced at 15.00. I told him it was probably the most common game for the NES and that I've given away probably a hundred over the years, but he refused to listen to reason. I got him back by buying Stack Up from him for a quarter. Pathetic n00b.

Not only do I still have the one that came with my original NES, but just through collecting I've also acquired copies of the standalone carts of SMB and Duck Hunt, as well as the SMB/Duck Hunt/Word Class Track Meet (*and* a copy of the standalone WCTM, for that matter).

Actually I believe I currently have a second copy of the dual cart at the moment, but that'll be part of the next bundle of NES games I sell once I have enough games to put together.

I'm only 16 so my first console was a SNES. I just recently got into retro gaming/collecting and I don't have a job so I don't have all that much money. I did now buy a NES with 5 games but all i got was Contra, SMB 3, Ninja Turtles 2, Ninja Turtles 1 and a plain SMB cart.
