Do you guys ever gamble on unconfirmed addesses with paypal?

I have an auction for about $95 shipped with an ebayer with (1) feedback who paid immediately with paypal with an unconfirmed address.

What happens with unconfirmed addresses anyway? Can the buyer just claim they never go the package?

It could be a scammer. But it won't matter if you're a vertified member with Paypal.

Don't worry.

Shipment to a confirmed address, however, is not a requirement for coverage under the Seller Protection Policy

I spoke with a Paypal rep and he said I have no protection. I am a verified member tho. Please elaborate.

Well, I have a Verified PayPal address with an Unconfirmed address. I have a confirmed address, but that is my home address, and it is too much of a hassle to confirm a second address. My second address is my address at my university. I currently have 71 eBay feedback, and had 121 on my other account. Just because someone has an unconfirmed address, don't automatically assume they are scammers.

I just had someone win a $50 auction from me. The person had 8 feedback with %100, but paid with an unconfirmed address. So i emailed them and asked them if the address on the Notification was the right one. They emailed me back and said yes. The weird thing was, the address they wanted it mailed to had a man's name, the name on the payment that came through paypal was a woman's name with a totally different last name. I contacted paypal and asked them what i should do, they said just make sure you do delivery confirmation or keep your USPS receipt to prove they got the package, in case they try to lie and say they never got it. Now i decided to do signature confirmation just to be safe. Its been over a week since I mailed it, i checked the tracking number online, it says it was attempted to be delivered twice. And if they dont pick it up at the post office soon it will get returned to me. Do you smell scam? What would you do?

Well, it might be a boyfriend living with a girlfriend. That happened to me once. I sent the money to a woman's boyfriend's PayPal address, but it was going to her.

Yes I gamble a lot on unconfirmed addresses IF the person has recent/excellent feedback.

Yes the buyer can claim he didn't receive it , and yes they would get a refund.

@kevin_psx . The Seller Protection Policy requires shipping to a confirmed address as read here: http://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_help-ext&eloc=1611&loc=1609&unique_id=2127&source_page=_home&flow=

And as confirmed by phone to Paypal by myself on several occasions.

Here's the info on the above page if the link is broken.

In order for a transaction to be eligible for protection under the Seller Protection Policy, the transaction must be marked as "SPP eligible and sellers must:

* Have a qualified Verified Business or Premier Account.
* Ship to the confirmed address on the Transaction Details page
* Retain reasonable proof of postage that can be tracked online
* Require signature receipt on items equal to or more in value than $250.00 USD

Yeah. But Read the actual legal document http://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=p/gen/ua/policy_spp-outside

i. The transaction is between a US, UK or Canadian buyer and a qualified US, UK or CA seller.
ii. The payment is listed as "Seller Protection Policy Eligible" on the Transaction Details page.
iii. The seller accepted a single payment from one PayPal account for the purchase.
iv. The seller does not charge a surcharge for accepting PayPal payments.

Note there's no confirmed or unconfirmed requirement. ARGH! Confusing. Paypal contradicts itself. One part says nothing. Another part says confirmed. Another part says "unconfirmed qualify for protection".

:devilish: Anybody have buyers with "unconfirmed" but "seller protection eligible"?

I don't see why having a confirmed address is such a big deal. I had loads of completed deals on Ebay before I got off my lazy ass and had my address confirmed with paypal. Just because a buyer doesn't have a confirmed address doesn't mean they're a scammer. That possibility is there with any buyer.

Two words:

Delivery Confirmation.
