I think someone had this game for a long time and didn't know it was that valuable untill they saw the other auction !
His feedback is not the best you can have!

Problem is, the demand is not there. There are not 5 people who would pay $2000+ for that cart, regardless of rarity.
You can have something that is mega mega rare, and only one in the damned world, and it still might not go that high because of demand. That is what the seller is not understanding when he put rarity comparisons there. If I was to place unreleased protos up there in comparison as rarity and value, it would be the same thing, but I know the demand is not as high for those products.

Just out of curiosity, why is there such a demand for the games he compared his to if it's not because of rarity? It's not as if any of those games are insanely fun or special in any other way other than the fact that they're rare. Christ, no game is worth $1000 because of fun factor alone. Is it really just because there are that many more Nintendo collectors than Sega?

I have a brick in my backyard thats really really rare... one of a kind, and i would gladly sell it to this guy for 5000.

Yeah rare as it is it is not an NWC. I don't think its worth that much either.

Yes and they are crazier.
I was suprised that the last one went so high. Plus it didnt make the reserve :/
Maybe one day I will get one. But then again I would spend (If I had it) 1k on a Atari 2600 game before a Genesis game.

Seller wants NWC money. Which is funny as the last NWC (relisted what 3-4 times now) isn't even getting NWC money.

Do you think seller will sell anyways or really would wait for like 2-5 years till it sells to someone who's crazy enough to pay this amount for it?

Is this the same one that a member here sold a few months ago for a friend of his/hers.

It would have to be. In that last auction DreamTR claimed that "less than 5 exist" (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=73544&highlight=). What's the odds that a second one would surface and be put up for sale on eBay so soon after that one.
BTW, what was the reserve on that first auction? The final bidding price of that one was way up there as well, $2,200 in fact but the reserve wasn't met.

Pretty good actually.
Usually when games pop up on ebay like this, another one will pop up very shortly thereafter because people who don't know what it is realize what they have.
This was most recently proven when that guy put up his grey NWC a few months back. After that one sold (or didn't sell, or whatever the hell happened with that madness), two more popped up very shortly after. (I think it was two. At least one did, the other one may have been a scam.)
The same thing happened with an Air Raid about a year ago.

The seller of this cartridge is from these forums, he is the one that has all of the materials to the item, and said he might sell it at the CGE, but he did not show.
This is NOT the same cartridge I was auctioning for someone awhile back.
Also, there are not very many Sega Collectors willing to spend the bucks on ANYTHING.
I would even go as far to say Master System collectors will pay more for high end cartridges than Genesis collectors.
I have 15 Genesis unreleased prototypes, and I could not get ANYONE to bite on what I want for those, most are one of a kind, and I am not even asking for anywhere near as much as the seller for the Blockbuster cart.
It's a factor that Genesis is NOT as vaunted in the USA. I am sure if this was a Japanese Mega Drive contest cart, he might sell it. I think he would be better off selling it on Yahoo Japan in my opinion, but the cart is worth about $1000 I would say, as there are 2 people willing to pay that much for it. Don't pay attention to reserves not being met, that means nothing. Buyers STILL will not pay even if they are close to the reserve.

from the auction:
PAYPAL PAYMENT ARE NOT ACCEPTED FOR THIS PARTICULAR AUCTION
That is the seller's choice to do that, but he'd get more interest if he let paypal go on it. Just ship it fedex and he'd be protected.
