Anyone get this game yet? I was on my break at work, helping the people in Home Entertainment put security tags on the items and put em in the display cases, opened up a box, and found 4 Gamecube / Mario Striker's sets.

Anyone actually get the game, or test it or whatever? Opinions?

Easily the most fun Mario sports title from a multi-player standpoint.

yeah, i've been playing it the whole week

it's a lot of fun in multi-player and it's also fun in sp, although it might get a little boring. it's easy to get started but the higher difficulty levels are challenging (imho). Overall the game is really good

*spoiler alert*

what really pisses me off is the stupid secret team, the robos, they look totally ugly and when playing against them there's a lot of slowdown. And why the heck robos??? With Shy Guys, Boo Hoos, Goombas, Toadettes and others missing, wth include Robos?? just stupid if you ask me...

that "Secret team" was made by the developers...why? because I think the robo is their mascot or something...

but still I really do like the style of the promo art

SPOILER SPOILER

Yeah I was dissapointed to see ROB as the last unlockable character in Mario Kart DS. No Koopa but ROB, Nintendo's first unsucessful gimmick. I guess they are following this trend with Mario Strikers.

I assume this is the same game as Mario Smash Football (UK title)? If so, then this game owns. It is one of the best football games I have played and certainly a great Mario game in the same way that Mario Tennis is great.

Now I hate football games. Can't stand them. But something about this game has just got me hooked. I think it's the close resemblence to Nintendo Football (I think that's the right title ~ May have been Nintendo World Cup???) on the GameBoy all those years ago, where you could score easially with a power shot which was unstoppable by the goalie.

This game is also very similar to Brutal Sports Football (Jaguar), and is in essence the same kind of game, but without the beheaddings. BSF being the only other football game (Albeit American Football) I have actually been addicted to playing.

I actually liked the secret team. I felt a sense of achievement when I finally unlocked them, especially as I found it relatively hard to win a single match when I first put the game on and started to play. But the more I played, the better I got, and I was relieved the first time I beat Peach! It took me a while to get used to the awkward controls, but I think I have it sussed. I am now tackling the harder levels, but using the secret team to help make it a bit easier.

This game is also very fast. Blink, or makea mistake, and seconds later you will find you are three goals down. You really need to keep on the ball with this game.

I tend to find it easier playing without the power ups / Bowser active. They are very annoying at the best of times, so I switch them off and play a straight game of 5 a side. I keep the power shots on though as they can be helpful.

I also started by playing five minute games, but as I got better, and after I unlocked the secret team, I decided to cut down the length of the matches as I found it got a bit samey having to play five minutes of whitewashing the opposing team. Three minutes seems more than enough time to now make sure I am at least three or four goals ahead come the end whistle...

Not often does a game keep me engrosed for so long. Especially not a sports title. This game is very addictive, however, it does have a quite steep learning curve, and takes a lot to actually master the moves. Once you have it sussed though, it's a masterpiece!

best thing you ever posted on this boards

now that you say it, you are absolutely right, this is basically a remake of Nintendo World Cup for the NES. Unstoppable Power-Shots, importance of tackling enemies, number of players on the field. Just with added extra weapons ;)

ROB > Mr. Game&Watch though.....what a let down in SSBM.

Oh, blasphemy. Mr. Game and Watch was brilliant. I thought he was the best surprise in the entire game. He moves with the same comedic rigidness that he had in the Game and Watch games, with all of his moves being ripped directly from his best games. It's enough to send my retro gland into overload.

Plus, he was a pretty sweet character. Everytime a bunch of people would get together, I would be the only person who ever chose Mr.G&W. Then people would remark about it like he's the game's Dan Hibiki or something. Then if I beat them all with him, we'd all have a good laugh about it. Lots of good memories there.

Anyway, Mario Strikers... I only played the demo at Gamestop, but it's kinda fun. Definitely in the same vein as Mario Tennis and Mario Baseball. If you liked those two games, and you like soccer, it's an instant win.

Reminded me a lot of Mega Man Soccer, except that it's in 3D, a lot sillier, and special moves aren't nearly as limited in use. Meaning that you can go bananas with all the different power shots instead of only being able to use I think two of them in MMS.

The exact same feeling I got. Albeit, just brought into the 21st century and with an added Mario theme to it. Talk about rehashing old idea's ~ Not that it's a bad thing mind you, but it was a little lazy on the part of Nintendo.

The power shots can also be turned off if you want to make it a much harder game, and more like an actual game of football (Soccer) ~ However, I tend to like having them on as the computer controlled team very rarely uses that feature (At least, in the easy mode)

When you finally unlock the super team, you then have a choice to use them there on in ~ However, unlike the teams you are used to using, all members have the ability to use the power shot. This can either be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on how much you like using that feature. It does make the game very easy, but only if you have mastered using it.

Personally, I kinda like using the enhanced shot that my Toad sidekicks use, as the power shot A) Takes up too much time; And B) is a bugger to make work half the time, often resulting in the shot being rebounded back to you wasting both time and effort. If you get it right, you will find yourself getting very bored of the matches pretty soon, as it becomes far too easy...

Winning a match 26-0 doesn't really give you the same feeling as being 3-2 down with seconds to go, and then scoring with two seconds on the clock with a power shot, pumping you into the lead. Or, being equal 5-5 after a grueling match, playing the team above you in the league in the deciding match ~ Forced into sudden death, you then curl a winning shot around the opposing team from just past the halfway line with one of your little Hammer Bro's to win you both the match, and the league, by a single goal! Now THAT is the greatest feeling when playing this game! :)

Ah, but how are games when everyone's playing against each other? Going solo is just practice. I'd imagine a high scoring game would be pretty competitive in multiplayer. At least, that's what it looks like from here.

My God this game rules.

The Waluigi pelvic thrust was worth the $50 alone.

I want this game so hard but stupid x-mas gifts burnt a "grand canyon" into my pocket. :(

ehh....have to finish other cube stuff("Lego Star Wars","Drome Racers" and "Hello Kitty") first anyway. :/

I'll gladly post a video of "The Waluigi Pelvic Thrust", but can't seem to find somewhere to upload it. Is there a site ike ImageShack.us, but for Window's Media files? Somewhere free to use, without having to register (Like ImageShack.us)

I have lots of video's I have created on my PC. I even recorded the replays of the three best shots of my final match against the Super Team, where I won 13-4! Three cracking goals to be seen as well, and some of my best ever! :)
