I have a record of 11-18. I was 8-11 at lunch time and I only won one trophy, but I won a couple of races and got 2nd or 3rd on a few as well. How does it work? I'm thinking 1st place is a W and the rest is considered a loss. But it doesn't add up right.
Also I made a Texas flag emblem. I thought maybe it would be nice to tell someone where you are from when you race. But some had a detailed picture of Link (minish cap). Or a skull or whatever. Clearly not made in the edit pixel thingy where I made my flag. How did they do that?

The question is moot. Ratings mean nothing considering if you ever get close to winning people drop out on you.

Dropping out gets you a loss now. Nintendo apparently changed it.

They probably made it in the edit pixel thingy...

Not at all moot :)
Folks dropping out happens all the time. I just want to know numerically how the points pan out.
All of us deal with the drop outs.
I schooled a guy who tried to knock me off the dock on Delfino(?) Square ( I was in the inside, go figure), he bounced off me and right off the dock into the water! As soon as he hit, he disconnected. I lap before that he bumped me off the dock on another spot and I caught up. Sooner or later folks will figure out you are never too far out of the game(the bullet, three mushrooms, spiked shroom helps a lot)
The only time I disconnect is when I gotta stop what I'm doing and help my daughter with something or answer the phone (I raced while talking to my grandmother and drew a bath for my daughter, it takes talent but I lost horribly)
What about the cool emblems?

The emblem looked 16bit while my flag looked like 2 bit Atari graphics. Thingy? I deserve that. :D

I believe the wins/losses are tallied for the individual opponents you race against, not simply 1 win or loss for the whole series. In other words, if you finish 2nd overall after 4 races, you'll get 1 loss (beaten by 1st place), and 2 wins (you beat 3rd and 4th place). Right?

I *think* that the game counts a first place win as a "win" even though it isn't the series. I played Wirelessly against one of my friends as we drove to and from Pinball Expo an hour and a half away. When all was said and done, the wireless totals were something like 28 - 14 for me and 14 - 28 for him (I looked much better than I actually was, as most of those wins were only by a second or less, of course), but how the game scored it, we had only played two "matches."

It's based on where you place in the GP overall.

Anyone below you counts as a "win", anyone above you counts as a "loss".

So coming first overall counts 3-0, second counts as 2-1 and so on, in a 4 player match.

That's sweet about the dropouts getting the loss for pussing out because they got a beatdown.
I wonder how long it will take for them to figure that out?
I raced a guy w/ 300+ wins and beat him in three races and he dropped in the last race. Do these people work for a living or go to school?

When did they do that? Was it announced somewhere? Do you have the source, at all? Thanks, P :)

Yeah, dropping out does incur a loss--or even a few losses. If you want to find out, Pedro, just do it.

I haven't bothered to wrap my head around the ratings system. It's like understanding a woman! Get this: Earlier today, for the second time since I've owned the game, my total losses went down. Has anyone had that happen to them?

Oh, and for fancy MK emblems, click here (http://www.dsmeet.com/decalmaker/).

from what i understand if you are racing against 8 people and than get 2nd place

you will have one loss and than you get wins for the other places

or at least that's how i understand it.

From what i've seen, if 4 people are racing, 1st and 2nd warrant a win, while 3rd and 4th are a loss. If 3 are racing, 2nd and 3rd are losses. Same deal if 2 are racing. Racing friends, online or locally, it seems that every race = 1 point, so 4 races = 4 points, wins or losses.
