View Full Version : Ebay *really* needs an 'ignore' function

Especially when I browse ebay France, I really could do with an option to appear on an auction page "Ignore all items from this seller" - I get fed up with browsing through page after page of tat from the same few sellers, all with titles in ALL CAPS and BINs.
They never have anything remotely interesting, and I resent having to wade through it all to see what else is around.
Anyone with me on this??

I would LOVE that. I guess the sellers wouldn't like it, so they don't do it.
The worst is when you try to sort by price and have to wade through all the low price/stupid high shipping items.

I feel the same way. I've been wanting an option like that for a long time.

I agree 100%.
I'm sick of sorting thru auctions for RF adapters, cables, and other junk I'm not looking for. It's usually all by the same sellers to a filter would be very much appreciated.

They had it for a while now.
Go to advanced search and go to the part where it says "from sellers" select "from specific sellers" change the "include" to exclude" and then type in the name of the seller, click search. Viola.

The two worst for me are;
1) Trying to browse for genuine coin-op arcade machines and spare parts, and people selling all sorts of rubbish not related at all to coin-ops,
2) much worse - looking for consumer electronics, and have the same five or six power sellers in China flooding the category with hundreds of items, and claiming to be in the U.K
location "U.K bejing" for instance.

That would be great. I spend a lot of time looking at Dreamcast stuff only to have to filter through these eBay stores with auction listings for the same 10 games over and over again.
I might give that exclude feature a try.

Yeah, I'd love that. There are way too many sellers that sell only posters and prints in the Original Comic Book Art category... there's nothing original about it if it's been printed a few thousand times!

Does this work for just browsing through a category though? Part of the problem on Ebay France is there is just a Single category for Sega --> Games. And there are perhaps two or three sellers who constantly have several thousand games up each, at the same time, and constantly re-list them.
I don't see why the sellers should be annoyed about it. I'm not going to buy anything from them anyway. In fact, if I can ignore them most of the time, there is more chance that I will now and again go and have a look specifically through their items to see if they have anything I want.

I've been using that filter for a while and it's while its helpful it unfoirtunately only works for searches, not browsing.

Actually, having just had a little play around, I have got it working for browsing.
All you have to do is enter no text in the search box, and select the category you want to browse in. You can only select main categories, but once you have done that you can select the subcategories and it will show you the filtered results from that sub-category.
Once you've done that, just save it as one of your favourite searches. Have successfully reduced my ebay France browsing from 3538 items, to a much pleasanter 810.
2700 shitty items that I never have to look at again. It's a godsend.
