Twice now, I've signed up for WoW, gotten a character to 20, and quit. Both of the previous times have been during vacations. Now the itch is coming while school is still in session. The only people I have to go to parties with are my roommates, and lately they keep doing boring things like studying and SLEEPING ALL THE DAMN TIME. (If it lasts four hours, it's not a nap. It's hibernation.) Do I hold out hope? Or do I ressurrect that poor Tauren shaman? Ahhh, the conflict!
For one thing, the rest bonus must be nuts by now.

Gah! I forgot! I must have deleted it off my hard drive to make room for downloaded anime schoolwork, and I don't think I have the discs with me here. Sadness. :(

And what do I see a few days later? An ad linking to where you can download the entire thing - legitimately - in order to try it out.
WoW > me.
Roani. Level 20 Tauren Shaman. Skywall. Say hi sometime.

Your rest bonus is capped at two week, If I remember correctly. That should still be a full bar or two at 20 though. Have fun.
MooooooooooooOOO!

I, too, have an on-again off-again relationship with WoW. Rather than admit it's a completely pointless waste of time that keeps me from enjoying an active social life downloaded anime, I splurge every other month, building a new character up to 25-30 and quitiing. Somehow, this comes out to $75 a year, and I think it's about fair.
I did break down and buy the WoW guide recently. I've been putting it off for a year now. (the Alliance version)
Get a character to level 58+ and then you will realize just how insanely boring this game can be. Honestly, it is probably the most complete, polished and fun MMORPG in existance... from level 1-60. I have a character of every race and class varying from level 30-60 and there just isn't anything left to do. They completely dropped the ball on high level content.
On a side note, anyone with an inactive EverQuest account just recently had their accounts given 21 days of free play. ;)

DM, UBRS, LBRS, Scholomance, Stratholme, BWL, Molten Core, ZG, several outdoor raid bosses, Alterac Valley, Arathi Basin, Warsong Gulch, and world PVP.
Yeah. Nothing to do at 60. Bored to tears.

40 man raid instances with shitty rewards (that's if you even get anything!)= a huge waste of time unless you happen to be in a super guild. The smaller raid instances are fun but again no where near enough to keep players satisfied since getting to level cap is so easy. The PvP stuff is fun but not everyone cares about PvP. 60 in WOW is a repetitve grind to nowhere. The new expansion coming will relieve the boredom as they are raising the level cap but that's a long ways away.

How is that different from most other MMOs?
After you reach the level cap, it's all about itemization. Granted I'm in a good guild who does big instance runs.

As for PVP, to me, it's the most entertaining part of the game. Plus, with great PvP rewards, it's character advancing too.
