This game is a piece of shit. Discuss.
I can beat NES Gradius in one life. I can't even get past the first stage in this fucking game. Am I missing some really obvious strategy, or does the game just suck as I originally assumed?

Never much cared for Salamander or Lifeforce, really. The games were too much about cheap deaths and memorization.

You ain't seen shit until you've played (or attempted to play) the MSX version. Ikaruga's got nothing on it.

I got it, on MSX Antiques on Saturn. I actually like it, it's tough as nails, but still sweet. Sure i've seen better like on PCE or NES...but this is still okay, wouldn't call it superb.

Cīmon man, i donīt think that Salamander is great (always speaking about the MSX version), but the MSX is not a great computer and this shooter have some decent graphics for that times, think about it. Salamander is a shooter that i donīt like too much, i prefer the Gradius series or Parodius, but itīs not a shit like other titles that iīm thinking right now...

There's something about the MSX game that just irritates me. Same goes for the Gradius games and Parodius. I know part of it is due to the choppy scrolling, which all of those have.
It's not bad, though. I've certainly played worse.

Right!, agree 100% with you, but the graphics are awesome and itīs a legend of the shooter genre...no way...

Life Force on the NES destroys me, too. Suddenly I am inspired to see what all this fuss is about!
Oh, and shame on Arqueologia Digital for calling the MSX a bad computer. The early versions just lacked a scrolling chip, that's all! It does great for flickscreen games.

NES Life Force is positively easy compared to MSX Salamander.

Absolutely. I can finish NES Life Force without dying, but have never made it past stage one of MSX Salamander.
Come to think of it, I never made it past stage one of any of the MSX Gradius games or MSX Parodius either, but finished most of the Gradius, Salamander and Parodius games I've played on other consoles without dying (keep in mind, I said MOST, not all).
