Looks awesome. :-P Too bad the PSP is too expensive right now for me to even consider it.

PSM really dumped on this game, saying it was boring and kiddie. Is it me or do reviews only look for flashy and wow factor? I think it looks like a good classic style RPG.

Based on the reviews of Legend of Heroes vs. the general opinion of the gaming community concerning that game, I would agree with you. I have to say that the graphics of Popolocrois look awfully bad, but if the gameplay is good then that's all that matters, especially with RPGs.

I Actually think the graphics look really good.

I agree, the graphics do look pretty nice, imo. Not to sound like a fanboy, but those graphics look like something you would find on the ds, not the psp, makes sense?
Technical specs aside, the style just seems that of a game produced for a nintendo system than a sony one.
Once again, just my deduction based on what Ive seen thusfar.

I consider myself a pretty hardcore Nintendo fan - but I'll admit that the PSP has a beautiful screen, and those screen shots look really nice.

I remember reading about this game months ago and thinking that it sounded interesting. If I ever get a PSP I'll probably pick this up being a fan of 16-bit era and style RPGs.

Well, I almost have every game that has come out for the DS in the last 6 months, but this game finally got my attention. I can't wait to my next paycheck to pick this baby up. OLDSCHOOL RPGs Rock!

I agree with both points - the PSP screen is wonderful, and that this game looks the part. I'm quite tempted to pick up a PSP this week if I get paid tomorrow (I'm due a nice Christmas bonus, too). We'll see.

(I think the topic title should say this is about popolocrois)
anyway, Im strongly thinking about picking up this game after reading this review:

also wondering if anyone could post some impressions :)
Great game picked it up last night. I love the old school RPG feel. I had to have my PSP pluged in because I was afraid the battery would fail me at the best part. The music is good the cities are big. I love the fact that there is a lot of people to interact with. Great game, get it now.

I don't have a psp yet but this is the first game that makes me want one. I love sprite rpg's, Atelier Iris came out this year and I had tons of fun with that.
Plus the anime based on this game is hecka cute and the name is fun to say

I've been wanting to play this series for years now and I had no idea what-so-ever that this title was even coming to the US, let alone that it was already released. It looks pretty damn nice/charming/neat.
Too bad the whole ROM translation community is a shadow of its former self (guess that's what happens when all of the Squaresoft RPGs people want to play are translated) or else I'd get my hopes up that someone would actually translate the playstation games in the series :(
I've been playing it a bit more and all I can say is GET THIS FUCKING GAME. It's full of 2D goodness.

Can you use the WAB Version Changer to trick your 1.50 PSP to running this, or does it actually require 2.00 to play (like GTA and SOCOM)?

Can't tell you. I updated.

I know that this is OT, but this version changing bullshit is really starting to annoy me. I am tired of having to flip back and forth between versions to play PSP games vs homebrew. Yes I know about the new overflow-based boot loader, which somewhat works, but not nearly as well as using 1.50 software. Sony is going to end up losing as far as I am concerned because I am going to stop buying PSP games, downgrade my PSP to 1.50, and call it a day.
I bring this up because Popolocrois is a good example. I am interested in getting this game, but I want to roll my firmware back aftr I finish with Legend of Heroes, so I can play emus again. For that reason, I am not going to get Popolocrois unless the WAB version changer is updated to allow newer games to be played.

I've been reading into this game and I cannot wait to get it. It looks right up my alley. Not too hard or easy. Perfect for a beginning RPG person such as myself.

I dont get what the mainstream gamemag's have with "cute" graphics- just cause somethings bright and childlikes doesnt mean its just for kids, i personally love a broad range of games- from gory realistic to cute kiddy games. Imagine if we had that attitude when the original super mario bros came out... why all the haters?? To me it seems like the current trend of the average gamer is to turn your nose down at things that arent halo-or whatever isnt the current fad or flavor of the month.. but thats just my personal opinion..

I'd much rather have this look than any of the recent PS2 Final Fantasy's. I like teh cute. Same reason I'm looking forward to Mega Man Powered Up (Never got into any MM game.) and Loco Roco, even if I have to import it. Oh, and Me and my Katamari of course. (All for PSP of course, about time the PSP got more good games.)

I was suprised to see this game under OPSM's "Games for Kids" review section. Seriously, just because the game is light hearted and has a 10 year old lead character doesnt mean that it should be branded with a kiddy image....anyway this is on my xmas wishlist, and I hope to get it tomorrow :)

I really wish I had bought this before Christmas. I won't be able to get it at least until Tuesday. Or maybe I'll just hold off until I finish the other 4 RPG's I have to beat.
