I know there are a ton of games out that are good, and the following are some I'm wanting to get, so if you could suggest (or remind) me of any other titles I might like, please do so!

I'd suggest Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, Metroid Prime: Hunters, and Tetris DS.

I still play Tetris DS every week day at work for a half an hour with a friend of mine. I also play online about 3 or 4 days a week. This game is damn addictive.

not a great list of games to get us back into the swing of things, but that'll change in a few weeks.

True... September is going to be massive. Contact, Cooking Mama, Dragon Quest, Pokemon, Harvest Moon, Mario Hoops, Mega Man ZX... etc etc. I don't know how the hell I'm going to keep up (which means I'm not even going to come close).

Is the full list of DS games on wiki ligit? Or is there another place you can find a list of USA DS releases that's updated regularly?
http://tothegame.com/

Ooooh, that's almost a complete list. Bet you know what is missing :/
No what?

For those variant hunters.....

The non Chromium Cover of Metroid Prime: Hunters is out now in force. I've seen them at numerous Best Buys and Targets in the last 2 weeks.

Also..... the first Touch Generation reprint is out.... Nintendogs: Daschund and Friends is making its way into stores (saw at my local Target last night). That means that True Swing should also be hitting in the near future (since it's being considered one of the Touch Generation titles now according to flyers and ads i've seen).

First thing I looked for was Summitsoft's Texas Hold 'Em Poker Pack ... not there. It may be a complete list other than that, but I didn't look any further.

Also wanted to confirm Freedom Wings is at Best Buy as DocRamon stated. Picked mine up last night, too. And for those of you looking forwared to stealth-killing other ninjas online with Tenchu, scratch that. Looks like the Wi-Fi feature consists of a marketplace for acquiring new items, not multiplayer.

Decided it was probably time to add a photo of my stuff ... cheers.

the non-chromium covers i've seen at target recently all had a "rumble pak included!" sticker on them... not sure if it's inside now or not, but that could be another variant.

and i've not seen dachshund with the TG logo, but i HAVE seen chihuahua (walmart) and true swing golf (best buy) with the logo actually printed on the cover, not just a sticker on the front. wasn't aware we were keeping tabs on these, so i'll post now if/when i see more.

If anyone has a complete list of the variants I would appreciate it.

there actually aren't many... so it shouldn't be too hard to keep track of them all...

if it concerns you, polarium was originally released without the little red(?) sticker that has some review quote on it...

i was once offered a NFR full version of warioware that the seller said came with a case... not sure if the case was NFR too, i would suspect so, but i'm not sure. don't really have any more details than that.

aside from the sleeve games, TG additions, and the metroid prime hunters stuff... i think that might be it... unless you want to start counting canadian versions (with french)...

anyone know if the re-releases of trauma center and/or phoenix wright have anything different?

PapaStu

anyone know if the re-releases of trauma center and/or phoenix wright have anything different?

I highly doubt it. These are all being done by the manufacturer so I'm guessing that they are just placing another order and shipping the games out once they get em delivered.

I think (and i've taken this thought towards what I get in the realm of variants for my PS/DC/PS2 variant collecting) is that treat it differnet if the thing isn't sealed. A sticker on the shrink isn't really a variant to the game or anything. Hell most stickers on shrinkwraps can be peeled right off and no one would ever be the wiser.

I remember seeing a handfull of those Prime Hunters with that yellow sticker at Target, and they were gone 2 or 3 days later when I had swung back by again. All the ones i'm seeing now do not have that sticker on them. Yeah the Touch Generation Daschund I saw had the logo on it... at least I'm about 60% sure that it was Daschund. I know it was one of the two that we've got (and we have Daschund and Chihuahua) and Daschund was the one that stuck in my mind.

DocRamon

i tend to agree on the sticker thing... unless the sticker is advertising a dramatic change to something inside the game, such would be the case with, say, metroid with a rumble pak inside, or how gamecube saw star wars 3 get released with the bonus disc in-case, but only mentioned via sticker on the packaging. those are legitimate variants, i'd say, though the outward appearance is only a sticker.

something like polarium, where they just add a review quote to the front... yeah, that's crap, in my opinion.

well gamestop has the cover art for the Madagascar/Shrek SuperSlam Bundle and it looks like its the 2 games on one cart. also does anyone know if Harlem Globetrotters: World Tour is comming out this week?

DocRamon

who knows when those DSI games are coming out... best we can do is keep an eye out and alert others when it hits. i'm doubting they'll get released anytime soon. has a DSI game ever made it on time?

and yeah, i saw the madagascar/shrek boxart. i personally don't think it should count on the master list of games for a complete set. it's really just a reissue of the 2 previous games, even if they are on one card. i certainly don't plan on picking it up... but uber-completists should know about it, i suppose.

now, the question is... really on one card? might 2 cards be packaged in one case? could that just be the cover for a box that the 2 games come packaged in? would they, maybe, pack the GBA version of madagascar with the DS version of shrek? we won't have all the answers until someone buys this puppy and snaps some pics. i might not get it, but damn if i'm not interested in it...

Looking over my last Nintendo Power (gotta love those free subscriptions that they give us for all those Nintendo codes x_x ) and I saw what looks to be a pretty difinitive list of 'Touch Generation' games in a small add booklet that came in the magazine. Some have only come out as TouchG games, while others I know have a regular release. I'd look out for the following titles with and w/o the TouchG logo.

Big Brain Academy (AFAIK TouchG logo only)
Brain Age (My copy has no TouchG logo, but add shows with logo)
Magnetica (AFAIK TouchG logo only)
Sudoku Gridmaster (AFAIK TouchG logo only)
Tetris DS
True Swing Golf (I know there are both versions available)
Nintendogs Lab and Friends (I know there are both versions available)
Electroplankton (My copy has no TouchG logo, but add shows with logo)

I think the only one that will be 'hard' to find (assuming that it really did get a new printing) is Electroplankton, since its still an Online Only purchase.

I just saw the Madagascar/Shrek SuperSlam Bundle at beat buy today and its the 2 games in 2 regular ds cases with a slip cover over it. So there is no reason for anyone here to buy it. There is also a version of cars at target with a sticker on the cover and not the wrapping that says it comes with a piece of paper with exclusive codes on it. And has anyone been to Frys lately to check for the Globe Trotters gameso ya thats all I got for now

I'm not sure if anyone else here cares about variants, but I discovered an extra Brain Age one this week while in DE.

GAC and I were in Target and we spotted Brain Age with the Touch Generations logo on it. There were about 10 of them, but one of them stood out from the bunch. The color on the TG logo itself was lighter than normal. Upon further inspection we discovered a different product code on the back. We're guessing that they messed up the printing of the logo and then had to go back and make more to match the real TG logo.

Anyway here are the codes if anyone is interested:

Lighter TG logo - 60710B NTR P NDT1 USA
Reg TG logo - 61567A NTR P NDT2 USA

Pictures can be added if anyone wants them, but it is really easy to tell the difference between the logos.

OK. Moderators: Sorry. I messed up (badly). I didn't note the lack of an Edit button, and thought the Quote code in the text was something to do with the switch to the new forums. Yup, I'm a bit dippy.

So, feel free to edit/delete/abuse my above posts, and if you could get the image to work... that'd be great, too.

I was shocked to see "the suite life of zack and cody" at toysrus today, it is said to be released in late october according to amazon but I swear I saw it at toysrus today. I didn't buy it because im more focused on 360 games at this time but it was shrinkwrapped and everything so either it was the retail version being released super early or someone thought it would be hillarious to shrinkwrap a demo case.

thanks for the heads up, xmagxus...

i decided to check it out for myself, and sure enough, the suite life of zack & cody HAS been released to toys r us stores, apparently. my store had a bunch of them.

the actual release date is september 19th, best i can tell. not sure how or why these are out early, but i had no trouble picking it up. now... why can't this happen with more games?

also... gamefly says that mini rc rally (another summitsoft game) has been released. they were the first to get blades of thunder and poker pack, so... we should be seeing this one show up somewhere pretty soon. i checked frys today but had no luck.

that youtube video of mini rc rally doesn't necessarily mean anything though... the ROM is available already, and those can sometimes get out before the game actually gets out. he could just be playing that.

the video doesn't show the box, manual, etc.

but yeah, if the ROM is out and gamefly has it... i'd think it has to be somewhere... gotta be just a matter of time before frys gets it.

yeah... you can find them used. you can find them on ebay. you can buy the bundle, trade in or sell the DS, and honestly not spend much on the game itself... there's ways.

the zelda trailer shows up on ebay still every now and then. it has gotten pretty hard to find though, at this point. aside from ebay though, and trading boards like this, no... you won't walk into gamestop someday and stumble upon it. maybe a smaller game store, but it'll probably take some hunting.

DocRamon
09-14-2006, 01:51 AM
yep... the game is already out in europe. it's based on the movie "Stormbreaker" that was released in england in july. opens here october 6th. the movie is based on a series of books centered around the Alex Rider character, a teenage spy.

nintendo is running a contest to win the game, movie posters, etc. (http://www.nintendo.com/sweepstakes?id=KLpIGaVq9Z7Mwzeat8gPPbJbFgx0cnzu)

at this point, i don't see any reason why it wouldn't release on 9/25 as scheduled... these movie games are usually pretty good at getting out on time, even if it means they get released unfinished. it's all about product synergy.

im temporarily done collecting for the DS. diverting 70 percent of my focus to the 360 until the wii and ps3 come out. I'm undecided on what system i want a complete collection for (ds or 360) i'm very close on a ocmplete collection for both but i know in the coming months with the ps3 and wii added to the mix it is not feasible to complete the collection for both. i'm leaning towards completing 360 i'm only missing 4 games for that system and like 6 for DS

I am hoping to collect a complete set of DS games that are factory sealed. I know I know, it's...
I don't want to raise the whole argument of collecting and gaming.

I also want a complete set of either ps 3 or wii but I am leaning towards wii because I love nintendo and also I am guessing the wii will have fewer games than ps 3.

You might be guessing wrong, since Wii is supposed to have close to 30 games at launch (some of which will be multiconsole games that are already on the 360) but yeah its gonna be crazy)

I wanted to go for a complete ds and 360 set but now im not so sure cause there are a lot of psp games i like and still ps2, then wii and ps3 soon of course. Makes it impossible to just focus on one system.

I meant to add that factoring in a complete collection means prolly downloading every game they put on the marketplace i'd say it will easily outnumber ps3 games >.>

The reason i include marketplace games as part of the complete collection is cause 360 sorta set the precedent since games show up in your games played list i'd say buying every arcade game that comes out on the marketplace is part of going for a "complete collection" in the new generation.

ya know... i thought it was just me. but i've been having the hardest time finding the new games too. what's going on?

i JUST managed to find bratz and danny phantom tonight, and still couldn't track down a copy of mage knight. alex rider, bubble bobble, and rainbow islands are supposedly out... i've heard bubble bobble and rainbow islands are slowly working their way into toys r us stores... no word on alex rider yet though.

harlem globetrotters has been delayed to november... ya know, assuming it ever comes out. but princess natasha is supposedly out this week... anyone? yeah, i didn't think so.

and... mini rc rally... the third summitsoft game... it's supposed to be out. the rom is available, gamefly lists it as available for rent... and just like with poker pack and BOT2, i can't find it in a store. i'm guessing that with a little bit of patience it'll show up at frys, but i keep checking and no dice. anyone on this one? yeah, i still didn't think so.

everything else (pokemon, mario vs dk, open season, etc) has been pretty easy for me to find.

I've been to a few stores today and not seen anything at all. I'd really like Rainbow Islands and Bubble Bobble before they get too hard to find. Hell I didn't even see any Mario Vs. Donkey Kong 2's.

Bah. Maybe next week.

Could someone do a once over on my listing for US games and perhaps help me figure out if I'm up to date?

I know I'm missing a lot of variations..getting reliable info is always a chore. (I would be interested in adding Touch G variations and the like if I can get item number and barcodes for em)

LAGO

What is a Touch G variation?

What is a Touch G variation?

Nintendo re-releasing certain games with the "Touch G" logo.

Basically its a packaging variation. Nintendo also typically changes the barcodes on these slightly.

Ahhh OK. I've got a few DS games i'll check and see if any of them have the logo and let you know if I come up with anything.

Tronix lists Bubble Bobble and Rainbow Islands as this week... whether that's true or not...!

Anyone got anything to say about Mage Knight? Looked interesting...

DocRamon
10-04-2006, 07:37 PM
i'll put up pics of alex rider and little mermaid later on, if you'd like them for 'confirmation' or whatever.

still no luck on the 7 games...

and capybara, you're missing a few games from that list... bratz, open season and danny phantom come to mind... i'll compare it with my list later on

biker mice from mars was pushed back to next year... assuming it actually comes out at all. f24 was also pushed to next year, i believe, and hardcore pool to december. and uno is a dsi game, like princess natasha and ford racing and snood 2... no telling when it'll actually show up, or where... but i DO think it was pushed back to november at least.

as for mage knight, i fooled around with it a little bit. it's okay. control feels awkward and restricting, but i think if i really sat down with it and tried harder, i'd probably learn to like it a little bit.

Last night at TRU I saw Alex Rider and Bubble Bobble Revolution. They didn't have any Rainbow Islands and Bubble Bobble was $29. Needless to say I passed on Bubble Bobble for the time being.

Hannah Montana I thought was coming out next week (not that it really matters or anything).

rainbow islands and bubble bobble are both available at gamestop.com

btw I was surprised to see a limited edition nintendogs: dalmation and friends coming out on the 17th of this month.

I may have to back out of DS collecting for a couple months due to the wii and ps3 there are like 30 DS games comiing out between october and the end of november, its insane... if it werent for 2 major consoles coming out next month i MIGHT try to keep up but ouch so many games ><

i picked up several ds games today at toysrus they had bubble bobble, princess natasha and some others. They did not have hannah montana or rainbow islands at mine though and rainbow islands was the ds game I most wanted when i went shopping today but oh well.

I missing like a good 7 to 10 games for the DS (but hey at least im done with 360 for the time being) but i refuse to buy certain games i still havent picked up one of the three fifa games, I skipped madden 06 and 07 for the ds, and im missing harry potter, bratz, and a couple others i believe. Bratz is one im definetly gonna be waiting till it hits the 10 dollar mark >.>

I just counted the DS library on my personal list

I have it down as having 161 unique titles in the US (not counting the madagascar double pack) It does include nintendogs best friends though

i'm sitting at 148/161 though it seems so i've really fallen behind while focusing on other systems.

ugh i wish i could edit my posts in this forum,

anyway i overlooked one game

its actually 162 releases so far and i have 149 of them.

The most recent releases i am counting include rainbow island, hannah montana, and the new garfield game all of which JUSTTTTTT came out.

Hurrah! I have officially hit my first milestone... one hundred DS games! Well... 102, to be precise: 40 US, 6 JAP and 56 UK. Perhaps my goal of having a complete collection isn't as unachievable as first thought...

FINALLY!

i found bubble bobble, rainbow islands, and fifa 07 at gamestop this morning... and hannah montana at toys r us.

still hunting for mini rc rally, princess natasha, and garfield.

first off everyone needs to know that bubble bobble is defective http://gonintendo.com/?p=6805

and secondly toys r us is having its buy 2 get 1 free sale on all games is 10/22-10/28

so you may want to put off buing some games i know i have(from the looks of it im gonna need to get somethin like 26 games)

DocRamon
10-15-2006, 12:57 AM
well... i took a vacation this past week, wandered myself into a florida kmart (we don't have those around my town anymore), and found myself a princess natasha!

also picked up...

best buy: clubhouse games, crash boom bang, american dragon jake long, spyro

target: avatar

walmart: scooby-doo

so now, by my count... the only things i've not managed to find yet are garfield and that damn mini rc rally that probably isn't really out in any stores yet. ugh.

and i don't know how i'm going to play that bubble bobble situation yet. the collector in me wants the defective one, but the bubble bobble fan in me wants one that actually works. i don't really feel the need for 2 versions... i'm waiting to see how the replacements are issued out. i think that'll make a big difference.

i wonder how helpful that TRU sale will be for me... my store is in the middle of redoing their games section, and it's a mess right now. i popped in there earlier tonight and they had VERY little... apparently, they're keeping games stock low "at the moment" while construction takes place in preparation for xmas... and they'll be back in business in a couple weeks. hopefully they're done in time for the sale.

This brings up a good question will the defective Bubble Bobble be a future rare? Will it be needed for a complete set?

In other words all the usual questions that pop up when something like this happens.

I'm missing 5-6 games out of the 155 or so released, Hannah Montana, Tamagotchi are among them. I went a bit nuts the past few weeks, and I even have Children of Mana to be one step ahead of the game, winning it at VGXPO ;)

DocRamon
10-29-2006, 11:27 PM
i think the actual total is like 180-something at this point... i have 189, but that counts a few demos and stuff... but i haven't found star trek or touch detective yet.

a lot of the games released recently have actually been good too!

nice score on children of mana

random question but how many of you other big DS collectors getting the ps3 or wii (or both) this month?

DreamTR
11-01-2006, 02:58 AM
Docramon: Do you just go and buy all the games at retail when they come out for $29.99 and up? The ones I am missing are those, I wait for the prices to go down, or my freelancer buddy to get em, too rich for my blood...

DocRamon
11-01-2006, 03:22 AM
yep, i just buy them when i see them... that's just what works best for me. if i sit around waiting for price drops, then some games become hard to find, other games get snatched up quickly during sales, and eventually my list of missing games becomes so long that i can't possibly get all of them. i've always said, it's easier to maintain a complete collection than it is to go back and actually complete one. i have the money for it, so why not save myself the stress?

and yes, xmagxus, i'll be getting a wii on launch day. i'm nintendo loyal, so no ps3. i doubt i'll pick up many games or accessories for it though... probably an extra controller for the wife, zelda, and another multiplayer title like monkey ball or something. but since i'm now in full-on DS mode, i can't imagine the system will get much use. i'm primarily picking it up to play in groups, with friends and family when they come over.

PapaStu

I'm by no means the big DS guy (only have 60ish DS games right now, but my want list easily has another 20+ on it) I'll be getting a Wii on launch if i've got anything to say about it. Hell i've already gotten those Wii color guard things that are starting to show up in Target stores.
